Steaks with New Orleans flair

We ate here January 31, a Saturday night part of restaurant week. My family was with us including our almost three year old grandson. We were seated promptly. Service was excellent and very knowledgable. We selected the special restaurant week menu with soup or salad, entree and dessert. We... read more

We were late for our reservations and the hostess was incredibly gracious. On a Friday night, the restaurant was less than 50% filled. The drinks took a long time to arrive from the bar, and the were not accurate. The lobster and shrimp bisque was very watery, rather tasteless and an odd orange color. My grouper and crab was very... We went to Rey's for Valentine’s Day. Let me start by saying that I really wanted to love Rey’s. Great ambiance - very classy and cozy. It seems like a great place to get away on that special evening out. While we didn't have any problems, we also didn't experience anything incredibly noteworthy. We had a scallop appetizer which was... More

The special seasoning in their New Orleans style chicken was something I hadn't expected. It reminded me how wonderful New Orleans cuisine can be. Not only was the chocolate cake especially scrumptious, but the portion was generous--a colleague said that this was something that he always tackled with the assistance of his wife.

We had not been here for a while and it took restaurant week to get us back. We had to add to the menu with two appetizers, Carpaccio for me and Seared Tuna for my wife. Both were wonderful. We both had the Chicken and Sausage Gumbo. It felt like we were back in New Orleans. I had the 6... More

Four of us visited Rey's before Christmas '14 for our yearly get together. Our appetizers were wonderful, the fried oysters are amazing! Since I had a steak the night before, I ordered the Bourbon Street Pork Chops, as good as I've ever tasted. Now I have to go back for the beef. My wife had the Oscar Beef Tournedos which... More

We went to Rey's last Christmas Eve and had a wonderful meal with terrific service. We were very impressed and decided to go back again. This year, the service was weak and the food was good but not great. And for what you pay, it was a little disappointing. My wine was not served until after everyone else had finished... More

We had a great celebratory meal. The problem was what to choose from the interesting menu, would it be shrimp tales Orleans style, steak, fish entree or grilled meat. In the end I had a delicious Lobster and shrimp bisque followed by grouper with a fantastic crab crust. The wine was good and the complimentary cheese cake desert was yummy.... More

I'm told Rey's is not in the best part of town, but don't let that deter you from eating here. Dined at the bar at Rey's. Very nice and friendly bar man. Good and generous drinks. There was a live performer who was pretty good and the bar man even joined in for a piano duet. Mixed crowd from elderly... More

We took my parents here as party of an early Christmas present before a show. This is their favorite restaurant, and they don't live in the area! When I made our reservations, I was able to request a special meal for my parents. When we arrived, our waiter was aware of our particular request, and my parents were delighted! We... More
