quick easy food...a bit expensive

The food tastes great, but is a bit expensive and their is often a line during lunch. I would recommend going with a group so you have someone to talk to while you wait.

Char Grill... YUCK! When first moving to Raleigh several years ago from Atlanta and The Varsity Drive-In, I was relieved to see that Raleigh had a good hotdog place. I ordered two chili dogs and after just a bite or two, I was really turned off by the tasteless wiener... it was WHITE, it was so pale because it was... More

Raleighites know there are 3 good quintessentially NC burger places to get your fill of cheap, greasy food. Snoopy's hot dogs are great but the rest of the menu is just so so. Cookout feels (and is priced) more like a meal than a snack. Chargill gives you the best of both worlds. The menu is pared down to the... More

If you have been in business, between NCSU and the Capitol, for 55 years, you must be doing something right! The 1/2 lb. hamburger steak sandwich with french fries and a medium (large anywhere else) drink is a meal plus. The burgers are juicy, not greasy and the condiments are plenty. The fries are not the hand-cut from 55 years... More

No pretension, just great burgers that taste fresh. Behind Cook Out and Backyard these guys are hard to beat for the money.

Fast food with really no place to sit. A place just a place to eat regular ordinary food. Nothing to special about their burgers- def not mouth watering.

My parents and I go to Char Grill every once in a while after church. I'm always very excited to eat an amazing burger. Once you hand in your order, you have to wait quite a while for your food. The burgers are great but your meal isn't worth the wait unless you order a milkshake. The food is amazing... More

Both my boyfriend and I are foodies..and we generally go out at least once when I am there on the weekend. I decided to check out my book..Hamburger America and see if anything was listed in Raleigh. Luck was on my side and Char Grilled was..so we decided to go that weekend. You walk up to the order window and... More

We had to try this legendary burger institution. It is a walk up place and you sit outside. They prepare the food to order and at lunchtime it took less than ten minutes. The cheeseburger is fine not great and not even certain it's all beef. It seemed to have filler and reminded me of high school cafeteria burgers. The... More
