Decent BBQ

I had lunch at this establishment with my daughter on her recommendation. The place is rustic - it looks somewhat like a diner. The menu was varied. I chose the chopped BBQ plate. It came with hush puppies and two sides. I chose boiled cabbage, which was excellent, and baked beans which were... read more

Small place but very quaint and clean. The fried chicken was excellent and moist. The pulled pork bbq was good but realize it's North Carolina style. Service is efficient.

We went to this restaurant for a small family gathering. Good thing, 'cause it's small, very small. But good things come in small packages. As soon as we sit down, the waitress brought us a basket of hot hush puppies. They were excellent. We all ordered chopped pork barbeque. It was excellent! This is eastern North Carolina style, seasoned with... More

Make no bones about it: this place is a dump. Squat, aged building with 8 or so tables, tons of country crap on the walls, no AC, just one waitress,. It is exactly what you want in a BBQ restaurant. The food was some of the best BBQ and country cooking I've ever had, and I've had a lot. So... More

Wonderful barbecue at a great price. Loved the vinegary barbecue sauce. Had the pulled pork lunch plate with Mac and cheese and sweet potato fries. Absolutely delicious! Fresh and hot from the kitchen

This place looks like a dive, hole in the wall from the outside. Walked inside and the owner shook my grandfather's hand like he was a regular. Maybe he remembers that he used to be. The food was great. The waitress had that not so warm flare which was kind of perfect for the joint. Best hush puppies we had... More

Decided to try this place for lunch. Service was fast. Enjoyed the bbq. Greens tasted like canned. The Mac and cheese wasn't bad. If you want some true Carolina BBQ try this place.

I ate the chicken pastry with sides of fried okra and string beans. Good country home cooking at its finest. No big thrills here. You need to go early to find a seat. Hushpuppies are delicious. Bananna pudding is my recommendation for dessert. Interesting to see all the art/pics/history on the walls.

Do not be fooled by the fact the the building is old and little more than a hole in the wall . The food and service were excellent. It was just what we needed after a long day of traveling.
