Would recommend

Went there with friends. To start with the service was great. Our waiter was excellent. He was very attentive and had a great sense of humor. The food was very good but I do feel the portion was a little on the small side. I would recommend this to anyone.

My wife and ate there last night and was not disappointed. Picked the place out of a Raleigh visitors guide in the hotel room. When we drove up to the place I was immediately drawn back to the '40s as it is looks just like upscale eateries did then. Once inside the nostalgia takes over and can imagine the seafood... More

Had the signature 42nd street oysters and they were fantastic. I recommend all of their dishes. Hush puppies for an appetizer and a large variety of cocktails

If you like regional, southern, traditional seafood this is your place. It has been a family favorite for over 25 years. It is a bit pricey. It's a bit noisy. It's not gourmet with deconstructed this and that or served with subtlety. If you can't make it to the beach, and you want fresh broiled or fried seafood that is... More

We had not been to the restaurant in a few months because our last dining experience, including the service, was not as good as we had come to expect. This visit renewed our enthusiasm for 42nd Street. We were seated promptly on a busy night in a booth as we requested. My wife ordered grilled salmon and I had blackened... More

If you like seafood, this is the place. Reasonable prices, live music (Friday night anyway), and our waiter Rusty was perfect.

We had a huge group and our wait staff was wonderful! My favorite appetizer was the oyster trio. I had the lobster entree and was not impressed. They were very large, yet tough. The cheesy potatoes were great, though. I would return again next time I'm in town.

So it's not exactly New Orleans Grilled oysters but this is the best Oysters you'll find in the Triangle area. The ambiance is more of a bar and they often have live performers. But the Oysters are large and meaty, just the way they should be.

Wonderful dinner for my Husbands 66th birthday. I made a reservation with specific seating requests and we were directed to a lovely table as requested. We ordered several appetizers for my Husbands meal, but shared the hot baked crab/artichoke appetizer as well as the amazing hush puppies provided. I enjoyed shrimp and grits and was so happy that the portion... More

Enjoyable dinner. Have visited 42nd a number of times over the last 15 years. Food and Service are always reliable. This is one of the few places left in Raleigh that give you the old Raleigh feel. Great place for visitors or locals. Oyster Bar is a great option and the live music always enjoyable.
