As a first time visitor we thought we were stepping into old NY city. Very cool. Hush puppies are addictive - have never had any that compare to these. Awesome. Oysters are so fresh and delicious.........This is worth a 2 1/2 hour drive .........we loved every second.

Step into a 40's looking dive, this historical and busy restaurant is a Raleigh landmark for politicians and public alike. Steamed seafood rules here. Oysters shucked at the counter seats. Great idea! Table ware right out of the Tupperware drawer, menu needs more spice and broiled fish! Sides are bland and watery so drink up and get some steamed oysters... More

Numerous folks have raved about this place and I have now been there 3 times. I can't see any big pluses over other seafood places around Raleigh/Cary. Some of the hush puppies were doughy, I got 4 pieces of shell in my fried oysters and the slaw had an odd after taste. Service was OK but I shouldn't have to... More

I went to 42nd street for dinner, the menu has been changed to not serve broiled meals, due to the meals being returned often. The waitress worked her magic and provide broiled scallops and shrimp that was absolutely great, its always great when the server are creative in making the customer happy with their meal.

I have dined at the 42nd Street Oyster Bar and Seafood Grill at both the airport at RDU and in the city of Raleigh; both excellent! I had lobster dish at the airport which was fabulous!

I’ve used the 42nd Street Bar on several occasions for business events and have yet to be disappointed.

42nd St has been around forever. Menu hasn't changed all that much over the years. The food is good, not great. If you need an Oyster fix and can't get to the better restaurants at the beach, then drop in.

Great atmosphere - they've captured a little piece of Raleigh history but kept the food and entertainment modern and enticing.

Seven of us visited for our sons 20th Birthday. The buffalo shrimp appetizer was wonderful. Everyone loved the oysters, scallops and fish. Our favorite was the scallops. My Caesar salad was "ok". I don't love the amount of vinegar in the dressing and the restaurant is very loud. If you have a hard time hearing, the main dining room probably... More

The truth is that this has been around for a long time, so obviously there are people that like it here. I'm just not one of them; neither is my husband. If you get a fried dish it is dry and the cole slaw tastes like it is from a grocery store prepared section. This time I came in with... More
