I visited the location at the Raleigh-Durham airport. I had extra time before my flight, so ordered only the fried oysters. They were some of the best I've had. They were crispy and not at all greasy. The portion size was good for the money. The service was very good.

This is my favorite seafood restaurant. I go many miles out of my way anytime I am in VA or NC just to eat here. Over the last 20 years I have probably eaten here a dozen times and it's always excellent. Be sure and have the oyster stew. Unfortunately they are only open for dinner.

As a Raleigh native, but someone who has lived overseas for 20 years, this place is my family's favorite place to go when I come home to visit. We have been coming to 42nd Street since the 80s when it was the largest and one of the first restaurants in the downtown area. The food is always fresh and delicious,... More

Met up with a friend at 42nd Street Oyster Bar for dinner. She hadn't been there since she was a kid and it was my first time. We had made ressies for 7 pm on a Thursday night and there was a waiting line to get in - due to the reservation, we were seated right away. The atmosphere was... More

We visited this restaurant with another couple to celebrate my husband's birthday. The food was good. I got the swordfish, lightly blackened. It was good, nothing memorable, but I've had better swordfish at other places. The service there was great. They were all very nice and attentive. I don't have anything negative to say about the place, but there is... More

We went to 42nd Street on a Thursday night. First, I must say that the waitstaff was prompt and pleasant. But the food was nowhere near what we expected. The crab dip was tasteless, the salad dressing wasn't good (my husband had oil and vinegar and the vinegar was rancid), his salmon was poorly cooked and the serving size was... More

Dining at 42nd Street is always a treat. The oysters (my favorite) melt in your mouth, and the popcorn shrimp is always excellent. There is a wide choice of side items as well as desserts. The service is always excellent. This really is one one of our favorite restaurants in the area. Don't miss it when you are hungary for... More
