Cool decor & location, average food

This place is in an excellent location, City Market; however the food options were limited. There are so many better places for weekend brunch now! The food is fast and diner like, but it's not worth a visit, especially if coming from out of town. Skip Big Eds but don't skip City Market!

This is a down home souther breakfast spot and they are great. We enjoy coming here and there is usually a line but it moves pretty fast and is worth the wait! The staff is super nice too :)

Good country cooking at its finest! You gotta get there early cause it's a hotspot. Food is delicious. Pancake is as big as your head...bigger!!!! Those biscuits are perfect!. The only minor complaint is the grits could be a little thicker/creamier...but they were still good! Will definitely come back! Our waitress was so nice...and even encourage my husband to finish... People line up around the block for this place, and no wonder! Helpful, friendly staff and wonderful food. Biscuits are the best anywhere. Portions are huge. Menu is large and varied, for southern-style country cooking. Sausage gravy is divine. Pancake fills the plate -- could only eat about a third of it. Don't miss it! Four of us ate there... More

Love the country feel, great food. I felt like I was on the farm eating my grandmothers home cooked southern breakfast. The pancakes were colossal. It's been a long time since I had scratch biscuits and molasses. The staff was attentive to our every request

Big Ed's is actually really good. Especially for a diner/K&W type of place. They give you sooooo much food for your buck too! It's almost overwhelming if you go here for lunch, but overall everything was pretty good. I was impressed and anytime i'm overly starving, I will come here.

Just returned from a great breakfast at Big Ed's. The pancake is a must-share for the whole table, they are huge! The biscuits and gravy were to die for and the eggs and grits hit the spot. We were very impressed by how quickly they were able to move so many people through the place. We had a little bit... More

Ok... this might be my shortest review! The pancakes - the gravy - OMG! Amazing service! Always expect a wait but its a testament to how awesome this place is.Oh and heads up, just order one pancake... never seen any one that can eat two.

Good country cooking at it's best! The pancakes are made from a pound cake recipe and are the best pancakes I've ever had, anywhere. Nothing fancy and the prices are reasonable for a downtown establishment.

We ate at Big Ed's with friends who loved this place and couldn't wait to share this local favorite restaurant of theirs with us. We were in NC for a visit. The line to eat here extended out the door when we arrived at 10:15 on a Saturday but the wait was only about 20 minutes for a group of... More
