We came here for brunch because locals recommended the place. The specialty is breakfast – American style. The set meal is the way to order = value for money. I got heaps of different food on my plate for less than $10. The one-egg set meal filled me up and I eat a lot (I’m an average size, healthy male).... More

We're in the Raleigh area every couple of months and no trip is complete without a trip to Big Ed's. I know they serve lunch, but their breakfasts (which they serve until they close at 2:00) are so wonderful we've never even tried them. Fluffy eggs and omelets, yummy biscuits and spiced apples, and absolutely huge (we're talking 14" or... More

This is the place to take out of towner's for breakfast. It meets with all the cliché images of the South. Biscuits, gravy, fat backs, and delicious.

While visiting family in Cary, we decided to take an excursion into Raleigh to get breakfast at Big Ed's. We arrived moments before they were closing down the restaurant for the day (I do hate to be the people who come in at the last minute, and usually avoid it, but they were extremely gracious about the whole thing -... If you like a classic Southern breakfast, Big Ed's is you place. Good biscuits, good eggs, and bacon. Not much on grits so I can tell you but my buddy seemed to like them

The shrimp salad is excellent with a wonderful sauce and lots of shrimp. The service is good and the cook will prepare your order the way you like it. Just ask Sam.

First time eating at Big Ed's was excellent. Not too far from the NC Museum of History. Lots of choices and prices reasonable. I always try collards when available; very good. Décor was ideal for playing "I spy" with the kids. Service was excellent; enjoyed the peach cobbler and banana pudding very much. Cannot wait to go back.

I ditched my sleeping friends and headed here for breakfast. As many other reviews have mentioned- yes there is a wait! But it wasn't that long. It's a fun place with local flavor and ambiance. When I asked my server about the "pig brains" she threw her hand up and exclaimed "Oh honey! Around here we have a saying- we... More

This very popular restaurant in City Market stays busy and offers both breakfast and lunch items. Southern atmosphere with all sorts of kitchen cookware, bicycles and various collector like items hanging from the ceiling. Ate here for lunch (you can have breakfast anytime) and they have a wide variety of Southern meats like Fried Chicken, Country Ham etc. and maybe... More

This was the best breakfast I ever had. I ordered the sausage, eggs, grits and biscuits. My parents are from New Bern and Big Ed's served the local sausage which we always buy in bulk to take home. The grits were perfect (no lumps). The biscuits were ok but the serving sizes are large. I really enjoyed this breakfast, expect... More
