We were in Raleigh for a conference and wanted to eat at places that were not chain restaurants and everyone kept mentioning Big Ed's for breakfast. I now see why it is rated so high! Great food, country atmosphere, and friendly service...just go!

We found Big Eds in city market on a Sunday in which they are open 8-2. They only serve breakfast on Sundays. There was a line but worth the wait. They had alot of old items hanging from the ceiling which helped past the time. I had a ham and cheese omelet. If you like cheese, this is the omelet... More

Four of us enjoyed a great breakfast at this restaurant. We all had something different and everybody enjoyed their food. Service was good. It was a bit noisy as it was Sunday brunch but that made it lively and fun.

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of lunch at Big Ed's. Just wow! The meatloaf could have been enough to feed an army. I usually don't like meatloaf at restaurants, but this was just like my mother used to make. Big Ed's does feed you well and at a very reasonable price. Friendly, efficient service too. I just wished... More

This is my favorite spot. Good home cooked breakfast. Don't let the long line stop you from eating here. It goes quickly. Service is quick and they have great prices

Located downtown in the city market district, Big Ed's is in a cute little block with cobblestone streets and uneven brick walkways. Parking in the city is usually free on weekends, so if your willing to drive around the block you are likely to find close parking to the restaurant. We went for Sunday brunch today, got there at 12:30pm... More

Big Ed's serves one of the best breakfast in the Raleigh area. I love the atmosphere, and the staff is warm and friendly, true southern hospitality.

We came here for brunch because locals recommended the place. The specialty is breakfast – American style. The set meal is the way to order = value for money. I got heaps of different food on my plate for less than $10. The one-egg set meal filled me up and I eat a lot (I’m an average size, healthy male).... More

We're in the Raleigh area every couple of months and no trip is complete without a trip to Big Ed's. I know they serve lunch, but their breakfasts (which they serve until they close at 2:00) are so wonderful we've never even tried them. Fluffy eggs and omelets, yummy biscuits and spiced apples, and absolutely huge (we're talking 14" or... More

This is the place to take out of towner's for breakfast. It meets with all the cliché images of the South. Biscuits, gravy, fat backs, and delicious.
