Menu issues, but a fine place to dine

I read some of the negative reviews on tripadvisor and I must say that our group's experience was nothing like those. There must have been a change in management. the wait staff was very pleasant and attentive, and Holly herself came to greet us at the table. We had 7 in our party. We began... read more

Went to this place on one of those Restaurant Week deals. It's an eclectic house in a not so nice part of downtown Raleigh. The appetizer was good, I think but not completely memorable. The entree was what through me off. I had the jambalaya and the chicken tasted off, like it was left in the kitchen heat all day... More

Mo's Diner is now called Holly's on Hargett. It's still the same location, owner, and chef. We had eaten there over a year ago and had a great meal. The atmosphere is wonderful, quiet, unique. This past time, though the food was not as good and the service wasn't very good either. Not sure if we just hit it on... More

My family an I were visiting Raleigh from out of state when we saw an ad for Holly's on Hargett in the paper. It appeared to have great tasting local cuisine. When we arrived, the restaurant was dimly lit with fresh flowers and candles on each table which was refreshing. Unfortunately, the menu had very limited meal choices and not many... More

Lovely little house- great ambiance! The food was excellent...our group had muscles, scallops, grouper, and steak and all were delicious! The salad wedge was also beyond great! Our server was also super-friendly... All in all , a delightful experience!

Holly's on Hargett, formerly Mo's Diner was a disappoint. The food was dry and flavorless and the "complimentary" bread "only served upon request" was hard as a rock and hollow. The meals were way overpriced for such poor quality. The fish alone was $28 dollars and the sides were charged separately ranging from 6 dollar corn to a 12 dollar... More

Strangely empty apart from our group, but it was a Tuesday night! We all enjoyed excellent food; I had a very tasty pork tenderloin and my husband a delicious full rack of lamb. Chocolate torte was a delight. Attentive service. Shame the Malbec was in limited supply.

Finally! We have wanted to come here for years and years! My husband called the restaurant early in the week of Restaurant Week for a Saturday evening reservation for six people and he was told there were no tables. The determined spouse (me!), called again the next morning and I spoke with the owner Holly. She was so personable, thrilled... More

In Raleigh, google “rack of lamb” and you get Mo’s Diner. We love rack of lamb so for our 29th anniversary I surprise my wife and took her to Mo’s. It’s not a diner. It’s a beautiful old home made into a restaurant with several cozy rooms. Bottom line, it was great. Service, food, and atmosphere all first class. The... More

My husband and I dined here for an office party Christmas celebration. The food was excellent; however, the service was the slowest I've ever experienced. Our dinner reservation was at 7:20 pm and we didn't leave until 11:00 pm because that's how long it took to receive each course of a four course meal. I don't mind taking the time... More
