Everything is made in house. They serve a smallish menu which still presents plenty of options. The salads are quite good and very large. My wife and I split the Bibb salad which comes with grilled onions, heirloom tomatoes, roasted potatoes, gorgonzola and mustard vinaigrette. My wife had the always dependable fish tacos, while I tried the shrimp & grits.... More

Wow.... Not a good evening at all! The pork nachos came out cold and the pork was very fatty. The fried green tomatoes were covered in pimento cheese and not appetizing. The service was so slow and our waitress never checked back in. The filets were not a good cut of meat and very charred. They were not cooked to... More

After touring NC State, my hubby and I settled here for a cold glass of white wine and appetizers. We actually ended up meeting some of the professors and current students. The ambience was nice but, because the school is just up the street, everything feels more casual and laid back -- in a good way. The husband had a... More

This is one of the good dining options in the NC State area. The design is updated and contemporary and so is the food. Everything was very good!

Porter's is very popular with administrators, faculty, and staff from across the street--it's convenient to main campus, the environment is conducive to business conversations, and the food is definitely way better than a standard campus area eatery. I am particularly partial to their salads, although the massive Reuben is hard to beat for a hearty winter meal. I've always been... More

This was our second visit to Porter's. There are plenty of comfortable seats at upscale wooden tables in an attractive atmosphere. The lighting is soft and cozy, close to romantic but our family felt quite comfortable. The whole restaurant is clean and in good general repair. Parking is tight on Hillsborough Street, but the spaces turn over quickly and there... More

So I'm not usually one to write a bad review online (actually I praise great customer service), but this restaurant was SO bad, from server to management that I had to reflect. First of all, we were a group of nine (9), so I don't want to assume that due to the fact that gratuity, service was out of the... More

We chose this for a family meal based on reviews, although I had not noticed it before. The parking is a little tough, as it's on Hillsborough Street right across from the university. I was pleasantly surprised with the interior - not what I expected right next to the college. A little more upscale. The service was excellent. Efficient, attentive... More

A big thanks to Stacey, Kevin, and the helpful staff of Porter's for making my mother-in-law's 70th birthday party a success. The menu got raving compliments all around (from 6 year olds to 85 year olds!) ---especially the truffle portabella raviolis, spanikopita, and sublime shrimp and grits. This is why I rec. you to all---great food at a smart price that... More

I love this place and can't say enough about it . I've been here for brunch and dinner and they have never disappointed me. This place started my love and fascination of hummus(they serve this before your meal). The staff is great and I love the environment here.
