Great place to eat near downtown Raleigh

I had never been to this place before but went with a friend for lunch. The waiter was extremely helpful in suggesting things from the menu. We both took his suggestions. I had the shrimp and grits and he had the shrimp tacos. Both items were very good and so tasty. I also had the squash... read more

I had never been to this place before but went with a friend for lunch. The waiter was extremely helpful in suggesting things from the menu. We both took his suggestions. I had the shrimp and grits and he had the shrimp tacos. Both items were very good and so tasty. I also had the squash soup before my entrée.... More

we enjoyed a recent, early evening supper at the glen wood grill...what a wonderful surprise! we started at 530 when the place was almost empty...it was full when we left at 630. Although almost every table was taken, the noise level was low and it was possible to enjoy a conversation. the lighting was low and created a cozy atmosphere.... More

Had the Chicken Gumbo. All I can say its was the best gumbo I have ever had! Definitely my "have to go there again restaurant" next time I am in Raleigh. Doors opened for lunch at 11:30 and there was already a line waiting. Worth the wait!!!

On a web search discovery, we found the Glenwood Grill in Raleigh. The location was convenient to our hotel, the Courtyard Marriott Crabapple. We are very happy we decided on dining at the Glenwood Grill. Wonderful service and perfectly prepared food. Menu is Southern based but don't expect fried or bbq. This is on par with fine French food but... More

This small restaurant has consistently provided great service and good food. The menu changes based on the time of the year but you will always find something that you will enjoy. The wine list has a good selection and will meet most budgets. Go early as the restaurant noise level increases as it fills, not too loud but if your... More

The food was surprisingly good. We chose it based on an online review. When we arrived we found that it was in fact in a mall/plaza and really didn't look too fancy. Looked like a nice local place and that's what it was with good food. I thing that I like was that my food wasn't too salty (I find... More

Four couples enjoyed a terrific meal. Interesting menu with choices for all tastes. Every item was tasty. Service was excellent- all entrees delivered at same time. Restaurant was pretty much full on a Wednesday night. All having an enjoyable time.

Local friends selected this restaurant and we were so thrilled! WE began with an order of Fried Green Tomatoes ...Delicious! Having been away from the south for a while I was thrilled to see dishes that included grits....You can take the girl out of the south but not the south out of the girl. I had the Seafood and Grits... More

My wife and I decided to try Glenwood Grill based on Tripadvisor recommendations. We were not disappointed! The staff was as good as the food. I had the Seafood & Grits and my wife had the Lump Crab Cakes. Incredible presentation and flavors. Did not feel hurried, but the food was out in a timely manner. For the quality of... More

Glenwood Grill had been a Raleigh standby for years, a power and ladies' lunch spot and a favorite for dinner that locals love. It had been a while since I'd been there and I was delighted that the food is even better as is the menu when we tried it the other day at lunch. The special of a crab... More
