Taverna Agora is an authentic Greek kitchen & bar where friends & family enjoy good wine, eat wonderfully prepared, simple food and relax. The restaurant is reminiscent of gathering places found in Greece, with old world flavors and rustic roots. However, Taverna Agora expands beyond the traditional agora with a few modern flares, including hand-crafted cocktails, a gourmet marketplace and Sunday brunch.

Very nice dinner

Went to Taverna Agora for the first time and although it wasn't exactly what I was expecting from the menu selection at a Greek restaurant, all the food was very good. Plenty of menu options for everyone and the appetizers were quite tasty. Would have like me lamb options at a Greek place but... read more

I had the stuffed veal and it was delicious. Also, had the Baklava which was a thick filling of walnut stuffing, not the kind you would make at home with lots of filo. Good service as well

I was a regular at the old location and have given the new location several chances, but it simply doesn't measure up. The new staff is poorly trained and has very bad habits. (No, I don't think comments about Thursday's being swingers night at Taverna are funny. No, I don't want to use the to-go container I saw you drop... More

Had a nice evening at the new Taverna Agora location recently. It's near downtown, but not in the very middle of the fray, which is kinda nice. The covered front porch is really delightful on a pretty summer night. Food is good; atmosphere is fun. There's a lot to like here.

I've tried a wide variety of dishes here and have loved everything I've ever gotten, including what I could steal from my wife's plate, and the leftovers from what my 6yo didn't finish that I had for lunch the next day. Can't wait to try their new location.

The new location is on Hillsborough Street next to Second Empire. They've done a nice job decorating. It was too hot for us to experience the roof top bar, but I've heard it's great. Our food was very good to excellent. The pastitcio was very good but needed salt or some other seasoning. One of my dining companions said the... More

Met there with a couple of people from work for dinner. Great ambience felt like I was back in a taverna on Greece. Everything we had was great. Lamb shank was so well cooked it fell right of the bone. The calamari for appetizer was great very tasty and lightly fried at the end we topped off with baklava cheesecake... More

Stumbled upon this Taverna one afternoon and now have a favorite restaurant in Raleigh. Superb service and the most delicious Greek food! We had fried zucchini for appetizers - delicious! Followed by a generous Greek platter featuring a sort of deconstructed gyro. Deliciously spiced, succulent meat and really fresh tzatziki with tomatoes and pita bread. We treated ourselves to Limoncello... More

Taverna is at 326 Hillsborough St, Raleigh, NC 27603. This a new location. Clean design throughout. Bar on the roof but there was a private party. Excellent wine, bread, salad, entrees. Baklava cheesecake. We will be back. Only short fall was the hostess but it appeared she was new on the job. Waiter was new too but he was good... More

We actually went here twice, once for lunch and once for late night drinks. The calamari is the best I've ever had. I also tried the homemade grape leaves which were awesome. My fiancé had the gyro and it was a very large portion and very tasty. When we came back for a late night drink the bar tender was... More
