Description: An authentic Raleigh experience! When the Irregardless opened in 1975, it was known as the hippie, vegetarian place. In the 80s, it was the first restaurant in NC to ban smoking. Today, the Cafe is the longest operating restaurant in Raleigh with the original owner. It has changed much over the years but its core values have remained the same. It’s award winning, hand-crafted meals feature local and organic ingredients. A casual fine dining restaurant, the Irregardless offers fresh seafood, meats, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free menu items - which all respect the environment. We also have a list of unique wines and craft beers as well as espressos, cappuccinos and 25 loose teas. Live music is performed nightly. Our large stable of musicians play everything from jazz to bluegrass. These groups are listed on our website. Larger bands play on Saturday evenings for dancing. The Irregardless Cafe is the place where friends dine regularly.

Since I no longer live near Raleigh, eating at The Irregardless doesn't happen often. While visiting family in Cary, my 7-year old grandson requested eating there, since he'd heard the story of my taking his Dad to dinner there often when he was attending NCSU. I had the Mediterranean sampler, chile relleno and flour-less chocolate cake - all absolutely delicious.... More

Sunday brunch, about 10:30 AM, the restaurant was about 2/3 full and everybody appeared to be enjoying themselves. We were seated immediately and coffee & orange juice were brought in less than a minute. The menu is an eclectic mix of dishes which should appeal to most anyone. The wife chose a fruit-filled and fruit-topped waffle, while I opted for... More

Well, it was restaurant week in Raleigh and they had their Chili Relleno on the menu so we had to make a reservation. It was great as usual. Food was fantastic and the service was outstanding. You know it was one of the best as there wasn't an empty table in the place. My wife used to work up the... More

The Irregardless Cafe is a good lunch restaurant and is very busy at that time. The food did not impress me as especially outstanding. It reminds me of a tea room. It does make for a pleasant lunch hour.

When Mother's Day was around the corner, my daughter began trying to find a suitable restaurant to take me to. There were 6 of us and we wanted it to feel really special. After much searching, she gave up because everything was booked. However, my other daughter told us about Irregardless Cafe and highly recommended it. So we called and... More

This restaurant has been around since the 70's when I was in college at NCSU. I had brunch with my daughter who recently moved to Raleigh from NYC. We really enjoyed the live music and delicious food. She said she felt like she was in NYC because of the whole experience. She told me that this would be her new... More

Every time we go to Irregardless two things remain constant: 1. excellent food and 2. service worthy of any 1st class restaurant in any city. Arthur runs a great place and his manager keeps it running at the top level alwats.

Yummy food, intimate atmosphere. I go here each year for a Thanksgiving Dinner or an Easter Brunch. My BF took me here for Valentine's Day. You will not get closer to "Downtown Raleigh," and still feel like you're in a special hide-away for food conniesseurs and lovebirds. Menu is unique, and covers meat lovers to vegans. Chefs always ready to... More
