Cute diner-style restaurant

My fiance especially loves this restaurant! He really likes the decor and how it is "diner" style. It is definitely a bit quirky but I like it too :). We've always had good food there. Hayes Barton Café in Raleigh was last night's venture for the six of us. Couples out for a special Valentine's Night. The restaurant's offering was a special Valentine's Dinner Menu, from which we all ordered. Wish I'd realized that they also offered their regular menu for dinner, we would have all opted for this. For the hefty sum of near... More

Classic diner type feel. Great food and incredible cakes which is what they are known for! Sandwiches can't go wrong with. Seating tight but comfortable for this family environmnt.

We chose Hayes Barton for a celebration dinner, and we could not have made a better choice! Our table reservation was ready when we arrived, and the staff was consistently friendly and cordial for the entire evening. DO NOT miss the bagel crisps and crab dip for an appetizer. Amazing! We wondered if the crab was caught that very day,... More

It had been several years since I've been here - too many good restaurants in the Triangle, but this is defintely one of them! I was not disappointed upon return. Delicious salads and sandwiches. My son had the Chef Salad - very filling. I had the grilled cream cheese and olive sandwich. The heat from grilling made the cream cheese... More

On a visit from my home in Tucson to my family in Raleigh, I had opportunity to have a "ladies' lunch out" with my dear daughter-in-law. I admit to some scepticism when my DIL suggested lunching at a pharmacy/cafe, but with her along, it would be fun to eat in an auto mechanic's shop, so I was all in! We... More

This is a small restaurants with an obvious wide following. Make a reservation for when they open. Food is great and desserts are even WAY better.

Place your order at the counter and while waiting for it to be brought to your table, browse the hundreds of pictures from the 40's, etc. Soft music from the era plays in the background, but not so loud that you can't carry on a conversation. Had the crab cake salad for lunch; excellent!! Another had the pimento cheese &... More

First time at H. B. with friends who had been there before. They converted the old drugstore counter into a restaurant/bar. It was crowded and very noisy--good signs for a week night. Asking friends what to order, they said not to get the chicken pot pie as it was too dry--so I went with the fried chicken and waffles with... More
