Private luncheon exceeded expectations

A few members of our family hosted an engagement luncheon for our nephew and his bride-to-be. It was an opportunity for the bride and groom's family to get to know one another. We chose Bloomsbury because they were so attentive to our wishes. It could not have been a better affair. Appetizers... read more

Ordered a dish described as “leg of lamb medallions”, but got three breaded cutlets. Tasty, but really didn’t want breaded (fried) cutlets. This is a rare misstep for a place we rely on. Top-notch for twenty years! About my ratings: In an effort to compare apples to apples, my ratings are strictly for establishments within thirty minutes travel of each-other.... More

This restaurant has been around for a very long time. it has stayed very consistent and is both great for a casual dinner and for the special night out. The menu is always inventive and if you what just a quick meal try the bar menu. It's great.

Hands down one of the best restaurants in the triangle. The food is exceptional and the service is great.

We have never had a disappointing meal here. The service is impeccable (we always ask for Dave to be our server) and the food is innovative, delicious and memorable. The atmosphere is relaxing, subdued and is very conducive to engaging conversation. The vodka martini is among the best and most generous of any I've ever had and my wife always... More

What a great meal John Toler prepared for the Commanderie de Bourdeaux special Chateau de Fargues winemaker's visit! Pairing every course with a Sauternes is no easy task, but he managed to bring out the best of both the wines and the food. Of course there was foie gras, but the Pan roasted Sturgeon over sticky rice with curried Sneads... More

For a special treat while visiting my hometown, we came here on a Thursday evening (which would have been a quiet dinner out if not for the ophthalmologists meeting in the adjacent room). The chef prepared the food meticulously, combined with a beautiful presentation. The portions are not large (typical for "artful" food) but very flavorful. I tried the goat... More

A friend who has eaten in some of the best restaurants all over the world and who is, herself, an excellent cook recommended the Bloomsbury Bistro a couple of years ago. It has taken us this long to get there, but we will be back. Everything was perfect--the cocktails, the wine, the food, the service, the ambiance. I always hesitate... More

Most drivers could easily miss this gem because they are focused on who's coming from what lane at Raleigh's Five Points intersection. In fact, we had done so at least a half-dozen times ourselves. Don't miss it! The exterior is unassuming but the interior is somehow modern and traditional at once - perhaps it's the murals. As for the food... More

Yes! Don't let the restaurant exterior fool you! The atmosphere and ambiance is comfortable yet upscale. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable. The menu changes seasonally and will most certainly have something for every palate. The bar puts out some incredible drinks. Please don't leave without dessert. I had the best sorbet that I have ever eaten...toasted coconut, and my... More
