Perfectly prepared and well presented

Bright open restaurant with nicely spaced tables. All dishes were perfectly prepared, very fresh ingredients and well presented. The service was prompt and efficient without ever feeling rushed. Nice flavor balance in the foods with the right blend of herbs and seasoning. We will go back!

Way overpriced and portions are small. I don't know it gets such positive reviews. There are much better upscale restaurants in the area, such as St. Jacques and Margeaux.

A dear friend and I met every December to celebrate another year of friendship and we want something very special for the evening. This is the second time we have chosen Bloomsbury and it's 5 star in our book. The atmosphere, service, and food are just perfect -- we are hard to please! We even mentioned how delicious the coffee... More

Bloomsbury was y very first fine dining experience when I moved to Raleigh. It's been 16 years and even with all the new restaurants opening it's still my favorite. The service is impeccable - and the menu is amazing. John Toler the chef/owner changes the menu seasonally to keep things fresh and exciting. Whether you're ordering off the main menu... More

Never been before but we will return with friends. Bill, our waiter took excellent care of us and his recommendations were spot on. We started with the green salad that was fresh and perfectly dressed; and Bill's recommendation of the red wine poached egg on grilled country bread - the flavors were amazing. We then had mains of chicken saltimbocca... More

Bloomsbury is the height of civility and refinement, though not stuffy. It is quiet, comfortable, unrushed, and run graciously by professional wait staff and maitre'd who welcome you warmly. The food is superb, value for price: excellent. If one wants elegant dining in a calm and restorative place, this is a retreat for the soul and palate.

The food at Bloomsbury is excellent and the chef usually has an interesting way of adding an unusual flavor or vegetable. The staff is excellent and service very good. There is always something on the menu for everyone, and they are willing to make changes in order to please. The atmosphere is very relaxing and we never feel rushed when... More

The chef here doesn't wonderful job. The menu is always different than your typical restaurant. Altough there seems to be something on the menu for everyone. He is an excellent chef and the food is wonderful. It is a little on the pricey side but well worth it.

Tried Bloomsbury for our anniversary dinner after reading some of the reviews here. Delicious and service was wonderful. They utilize the team approach to table service beautifully. We had smoked trout croquettes as an appetizer and I would have eaten as many of those as there were!! We chose a Pinot Noir to accompany the Pork Borscht and fried Calf's... More
