Reliably good and inexpensive

VERY popular spot. We visited the North Raleigh location on a Sunday evening at about 7pm and it was packed (thirty minute wait for a table). If you order tacos, you’ll get three for about $14-15. Very good selection of Anejo tequila. About my ratings: In an effort to compare apples to... read more

I love this place because it is not your traditional mexican food or feel. The place is small and the menu is limited but changes. Not a bad meal yet and even when the place is packed, the servers work to make sure your food comes out hot.

We've dined at Gonza's several years now... delicious menu and large portions. My favorite is their Chicken Enchiladas with Mole Sauce !!! The best. My husband likes their Chicken Quesadillas. Wish their guacamole was better... but, their ceviche is fabulous and generous to share with your sweetie. Atmosphere is so authentic, you'll believe you're in Mexico... have another cervasa. Opens... More

Dining at Gonza's is quite an adventure. They have the usual Mexican fare, but also many dishes from "grandma's table." The decor is intriguing. Be on the lookout for human statue "greeters". Because there's sometimes a wait, in the summer there's sometimes a big bubble tub for the kids. Ask about the ghost menu.

I try not to eat too much Mexican food but this one is on my "do return list" I absolutely love the out of the box "wait buzzers" and the decor. It makes you feel like you're somewhere out of the country. The first thing I look for in a restaurant is the sanitation grade. There is a number that... More

We come to Gonza's at least once a week. They always have a delicious special that usually is sold out before 8pm. I recommend the spicy pepino to drink! Spicy and sweet at the same time! Many different tequilas on hand to try. If you go on the weekend, you might catch the live mannequin! Most people don't realize she's... More

Great food, great atmosphere, great service! You can't get much better than this trio. The food is a little pricey, but not outrageously so. Our waiter was wonderful, and I had what I consider to be the best margarita ever. And I have tasted a few! The food was really authentic tasting and innovative. One fun aspect is the wait... More

This place is one of my favorites! The only other place I've had pork and pineapple tacos (Pastores) is in Austin, Texas at the wonderful Fonda San Miguel - but Gonza knows what they're doing. They make excellent margaritas and the guacamole is fresh. All the food is good! This place can get very busy so make a reservation or... More
