good food, and disappointing service this time.

My party of four were very disappointed by our server at a visit to Gravy on May 15th 2015. Gravy is one of our favorite Raleigh restaurants, and we looked forward to a good pre-theater dinner. Takes reservations, although I had to book an earlier time than I wanted...and there were plenty of empty tables at the time I would have preferred to arrive. Waitstaff was attentive and thoughtful. Bolognese was wonderful and came with a dollop of ricotta cheese! The fish special was also well prepared and presented. There are various price points on the... More

We were super excited to try Gravy for our anniversary dinner. We'd heard nothing but great things. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. The drinks were over priced and nothing special. They tout a wine cellar and offer "tours" and it's a large room that is awkward to walk through, especially when others are dining. As for our meal it... More

This seems to be a popular place so reservations are probably in order. Since we arrived without reservations, we were seated at one of two or three tables on the sidewalk outside. Service was still really good. Food was really good. I had the family gravy, four different sausages on a bed of pasta, that was really tasty. For a... More

More "northern" Italian type entrees without the heavy tomato sauces. Innovative appetizers and entrees, great service with a very knowledgeable staff. Excellent wine and drinks and a terrific atmosphere. We felt welcomed from the minute we entered and were neither rushed or ignored.

Was super excited to use a giftcard that we won along with others in a silent auction, so we went last Friday night. Was told the earliest we could get reservations was 8pm, which struck us as very odd when we got there (the place was maybe 40% full... uh oh). There were lines out the door at other restaurants... This restaurant new to our party of six was out of bounds, as absolute pleasure, food over the top. Not the traditional Italian we are used to but definitely a must stop in Raleigh NC. Will definitely return again. A very clean place with both knowledgeable, prompt and attentive staff. A A-plus and most definitely another trip back soon!!!

I just went here for the first time with a group of friends for my birthday and would go back in a heartbeat. As appetizers we got, calamari, bruschetta, and the meat and cheese tray all of which were delicious and portioned right. As my main meal I got the gnocchi's, which came with mushrooms, a leek cream sauce and... More

Gravy is an unusual name for an Italian restaurant to start with and the staff and internal decor don't conjure up any feeling of Italy either. The menu certainly offers Italian food however. This was recommended by the hotel concierge as somewhere that he enjoyed so we asked him to book ahead for us. It wasn't our first choice of... More

Eggplant fried just perfect. Sauce was wonderful. We went for an early lunch. I was stuck between chickem parm and eggplant pie. Waitress said eggplant pie without hesitations. She was right.
