The Pit was our local guides' preference when we asked for Carolina BBQ. Everything we ordered was great and the service was fun, friendly and eager to obligate preconceived notions about brussel sprouts. All of the entrees we tried were wonderful. Be sure to try the "soul rolls" if you go.

The pork ribs are first class, just fall off the bone and taste great. The service was really friendly and courteous. Mid October, we sat outside in the 22 degree warmth and enjoyed a great meal with friends. Portions are large (for Europeans), so just be a bit careful. Overall a great experience.

Had rib dinner and it was wonderful, nice and tender and juicy. Wait staff was prompt, and very helpful. Very busy so get there early. Well worth the wait.

I was in Raleigh for a wedding and the hotel recommended The Pit for lunch. I can still “taste” the food. It was so good that I almost stopped there to order food to go for the trip home. We dined at one of the few tables outside and it was lovely. I could have lingered there all day. Our... More

this place for very busy on the weekend but finally on our second try we got in the outdoor seating. Wonderful BBQ. The hush puppies were great. The service was awesome. The waiters were very friendly and had good recommendations. Very nice atmosphere and the prices were right.

we were in town for a weekend wedding & the rehearsal dinner was hosted here. We were looking forward to some "world famous" NC barbecue but what we got was SLOW SERVICE, (from the time we arrived to be seated until the main dish... The meat was served!), mediocre atmosphere and so-so barbecue! I guess it's suppose to be a... More

This restaurant is great! Ample parking, nice location, very attractive! The inside is very modern and well appointed - makes you feel very nice! The service is fantastic! You'll have three servers waiting on you, and the service is just exceptional! The BBQ is very good. They have some unusual stuff, and some good ole regular downhome bbq, whatever your... More

If you want good barbecue, go to the Pit. Pulled pork is good, and the ribs are even better. The best deal is the family style meal which comes with unlimited portions of appetizer (get the cornbread), unlimited 2 meats (Ribs, of course, and pulled pork as second), unlimited desert if by any super-human power you have room for it...... The BBQ at the Pit is top-notch Carolina-style BBQ. Oddly enough, they were somehow out of pulled pork on a Saturday afternoon, so we had to get chopped instead, but it was still excellent. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. Great place if you're looking for real BBQ with the setting of a nicer sit-down restaurant. Prices are surprisingly good... More

This is our second time in Raleigh, but our first visit to The Pit. The food was awesome, with the best pulled pork I've ever tried...and thst is saying something. Everything else we tried was equally as good. Our server, Jenny, was terrific too. I highly recommend this place!
