Decent take out BBQ

We've ordered take out at The Pit two times over the past two summers. We are from out of town but my work has brought me to Raleigh for the last two years. The pit is a nice difference to many local bbq establishments. It has a very nice upscale atmosphere and also has excellent bbq. I am a big fan of their brisket - but have not had anything that was not good. It's a popular location, so expect a dinner wait, but it's worth it! I highly recommend this place and... More

Been here 4 times and each time I remember how delicious each menu item was and never had a bad meal. A family favorite.

My son and I went to The Pit for dinner. The food was great, portions are large and the atmosphere is very energetic. My son described this as "the fanciest BBQ" restaurant we've been to. Free valet service is a definite plus since there isn't much parking, and reservations are available but there's a huge bar with plenty of tables,... More

Had dinner at the pit mid July, 2015. The service was exceptional especially since this is in essence a whole hog BBQ restaurant. I had a chance to try the pulled pork which was excellent and moist, a delicious baby kale salad, and a side of Heirloom cabbage collards that were off the charts good. Our server then decided that... More

Everyone we had talked to told us we needed to go here for NC bbq. We were staying in Glenwood south so we Ubered down for lunch. It is a very spacious place with a nice pub/fine dining feel. The servers do a 3 person tag team to make sure you get good service. That was great (to start)! They... More

First time to Raleigh and ate here based on a recommendation. They got very busy so I would recommend reservations. Wait staff was very attentive. The Sangria was wonderful. There is a meat platter that allows you to try all of the various meats. I recommend the brisket. Okra was very good.

Upscale, free valet service. Corn pon and corn bread. Great for groups with a lot of family style tables and chairs. Fun and loud. Perfect food that simply cannot be beat. Oh yea, the fried green tomatoes were no that great..I should have asked for my money back. Helpful, nice and fast servers. They act like they love their job... More
