My husband & I enjoyed the food & atmosphere at The Pit so much we had to go another time before leaving NC. We ate there for a lunch after watching an episode of Man vs. Food. My husband had searched long & hard to find a good BBQ place while in NC. He found it finally at The Pit.... More

The food here was OK. The side dishes were better than the main entrees. The brisket was dried out. The ribs were a small portion and also not very tasty. The staff were all helpful and friendly. The decor gave the restaurant a fun atmosphere. The prices were average.

Everyone raved about the pit but we did not enjoy it at all. Service was terrible. It was so bad the the waitor gave us free desserts. The desserts were the only good thing abouy our meal. The food was cold and not good at all.

The location of this restaurant is good because it it off of the main streets and a little out of the way. The parking is a chore, however it is not impossible to find a spot within walking distance. They do have valet parking which eliminates that problem for the convenient minded of us. The food and drinks are prepared... More

We are from NC so we know good BBQ. We have our favorites, but thought we would try the Pit in downtown Raleigh this past weekend. The menu and service did not disappoint! The food is fabulous and the atmosphere was full of southern hospitality. We were there for lunch and had a table, but I hear that dinner is... More

If you are looking for a fun place to spend a Saturday afternoon with great Southern food and a full bar, this is the place. Vibrant atmosphere adds to the great taste. Be sure to get the hush puppies. Valet parking is available.

If you are looking for generous portions of authentic NC barbeque at a reasonable price, The Pit is the place to go. Everything we tasted during one lunch and one dinner was top notch. Pulled pork, brisket, and ribs were heavenly. Hush puppies were perfect. Fried green tomatoes--yummy! Save room for dessert, if you can. Service was pleasant and prompt,... More

First time visit and we really enjoyed the food. I had the fabulous beef brisket and my wife the sumptuous BBQ chicken. Atmosphere was lively and the free valet parking was helpful.

I was taken here by friends - we had young children with us and while the restaurant doesn't provide any distractions for the wee ones, the staff were extremely pleasant and friendly. We had a stunning meal (pumpkin corn bread, ribs, hush puppies, I am drooling just remembering). Great time.

I used to live in Raleigh, so when I had a business trip for one night in Raleigh, NC, I told my team I was going to take them to the best place to get real BBQ…and it doesn't hurt that the pit master beat the infamous Bobby Flay in a rib throw down! You absolutely cannot leave here hungry…well,... More
