Our ferry arrived from the NC mainland and restaurants were filling fast. I tried the Topless Oyster which seemed to have several groups of customers. The food was not thrilling but I did not have the oyster on the half-shell, or topless oyster. I had undercooked flounder chunks, some good cole slaw, and skinny fries. All were okay but the... More

A group of 6 of us stopped here for a late lunch. The waitress that seated us told us it would be a few minutes before she could get to us. I don't know if they were short staffed or if they weren't expecting a crowd. It took almost two hours for our lunch. Everyone enjoyed their food, but it... More

This is our second visit to the Topless Oyster. I agree with other reviewers, don't let the sign or the exterior put you off. If you're looking for reasonable prices for good food, this is a good choice. We had dinner on a weekday after Labor Day, and the bartender ended up being our server (his server hadn't come in... My GF and I went here for dinner after a day on the Beach in Ocracoke. While it was not bad by any means I don't think we would return. The service was good and food came quickly. The food itself was just average and I my feeling was it was a little overpriced. It might be more suited for... More

I have gone to this restaurant at least 4 times during the last month. Our party varied in size from 2 to 7. We especially enjoyed the oyster and shrimp happy hour, since our kids eat huge love both. They also have wonderful fresh blackened tuna bites and really good gumbo. Beer selection was also excellent. We've also enjoyed their... More

Four of us went in and had dinner for less than $100 I had the fried seafood platter, was very good. Others were satisfied as well with their meals. Decor could use a little work though

Don't let the unappealing "Topless oyster" sign scare you away. It put me, my husband, and our friends off for years. We decided to give it a whirl this summer--and were pleasantly surprised. This restaurant has some decent prices for good quality fish/shrimp/oyster sandwiches, and has a wide variety of oyster dishes (raw, Rockefeller, etc. etc.). The fish and oysters... More

We had stayed away last summer, to be totally honest, because the name suggested it might be another "Dirty Dicks' type place. WRONG! We went for happy hour oysters and shrimp, both of which we real good. Our waiter, a chap from England, was very friendly. We sat on the screened in porch and liked it well enough that we... More

It took over 30 minutes to get two drinks and they were wrong, kitchen was backed up by 45 minutes! Oysters were terrible and almost tasted rotten. My family will not be back!

We've been coming to Ocracoke almost every summer since 2002. The name of this restaurant, together with the sign (a crusty old man offering you his catch), put us off for awhile, and the decor doesn't really get any better on the inside. Actually, if the weather permits, we suggest eating on the screened porch. But the oysters are superb.... More
