Delicious southern meal

After seeing the signs along the highway and hearing about the great food, my husband and I decided to give it a try. Neither one of us are huge fried food fans (even though my husband grew up on the stuff) but this place was fantastic! We both had the special fried chicken and BBQ. I had fries... read more

First-time here. I brought my kids here after word of mouth by the locals. Also a coworker bought 2 fried turkeys from here for a potluck. The hush puppies were delicious. So much better than Smithfield's. The double cheeseburger all the way was great. My daughter enjoyed the chicken tender basket. The server was pleasant and attentive. Will go here... More

We always enjoy our meals at Fat Fellas. We often go there for lunch after church on Sunday. They have a list of specials to choose from. I love the meatload and my husband enjoys the sea mullet. We some times have to wait a bit for our order to be taken, but once it is, the waitress brings a... More

It ain't fancy, but the food is good, cheap and really nice people work there. Meatloaf was the lunch special and it was really good. You could taste the bacon in the green beans. I also really liked the hush puppies as they had an interesting tight texture. I did not eat the BBQ because the local i was dining... More

So - Newport isn't a big place...but Fat Fellas is the place to go for big taste, big selection and fast, friendly service. It's where the locals go for lunch and dinner - and don't leave hungry. They cater too - so the Fat Fellas trucks are a common sight around the county.

Why does it seem that a majority of the time the ribs taste like I'm eating beef jerky with bbq sauce? Very disappointed with the rib quality. The sides were great! Wait staff seemed to busy to even keep drink filled.

Saw this restaurant featured in a local tv show that reviews eating establishments. Expected great food, didn't find it here. My spouse ordered the fried chicken/barbeque pork plate which did not even have any type of bread or cornbread/hush puppies served with it. The meats were very bland. I had the cheeseburger and fries. Burger was not good, was loaded... More

This visit was a great disappointment. They ran out of sides and ribs. Probably not the best situation for a restaurant, especially one that is known for their ribs.

Fat Fellas catered the Wed. night Sponsor's Party at the Civic Center in Morehead City, NC. The food was excellent! The menu was great! Fall off the bone, ribs, loaded mashed potatoes, fresh green beans, fresh sliced cucumbers, tomatoes and onions in a vinaigrette dressing, delicious hush puppies, tea, and assorted chocolate chip cookies. I am hoping that they cater... More
