We stopped in for dinner and our table had the meatloaf, grilled salmon and baker's club. The food was good but our waitress was not very attentive. She brought our water but not the coffee and forgot some of the side dishes. The other waiters were happy to fill in and refill our water glasses & coffee or brought what... More

It's been a few months since we came to this restaurant, but figured we would give it another chance. Not sure what happened but the food just isn't the same. Nothing spectacular, and food is average at best.

My husband and I came to New Bern by boat on a Thursday afternoon. Capt Tim at the Marina suggested we try your breaksfast. He said it was the best in town. How right he was! Tasty Hot food, helpful pleasant waitstaff, and comfortable seating. We were seated immediately. Within minutes our waitress had our orders and brought our teas.... More

We enjoyed Baker's Kitchen for breakfast so much on Saturday morning we went back on Sunday morning! This is a very popular restaurant, and there was always a line for people waiting to get in. But the turnover is fast, and it is well worth a short wait. The ham biscuits are to die for, and the eggs were perfectly... More

We totally enjoyed our dinner at Baker's Kitchen. They serve breakfast all day long and my husband was very pleased with is big breakfast complete with red eye gravy. Everything is freshly baked, from the bread to the pies, and you can taste the difference. I had the hot roast beef sandwich with fries and gravy on everything and it... More

Ate breakfast here with teenage granddaughters and their friend while in town for a volleyball tournament. It was fantastic. I walked by about 7:00 am and asked if it would be difficult finding seating for 5 at about 9:00 am. The hostess said she didn't normally take reservations but since it was a holiday weekend (Memorial Day), she would make... More

When you travel, this the kind of place you want to find. It is a fabulous example of a truly local place. Not only do you find beautifully executed simple food (French Toast is AMAZING), you find flavors and subtle touches that reflect the regionality of the restaurant. Originally managed by the Mennonites, and the attention paid to the sweet... More

This restaurant is the choice for those seeking plain, homestyle cooking. However, it greatly lacks in variety and creativity in its entrees. It is probably a mistake that no one in the group tried the chicken pie as that may have been a good choice. The sampled bakery items were definitely above average, with the only disappointing dessert being the... More
