At Lone Cedar Cafe, we specialize in fresh and local seafood. If you're craving the freshest fish, clams, crab, shrimp and oysters from local North Carolina waters, you'll find them at the Lone Cedar Cafe. For generations, Outer Banks families made their livings - and their daily meals - from the bounty of local waters, caught fresh every day. Our family, the Basnights, were part of that history, and we continue the tradition today by serving only the freshest Outer Banks seafood, caught in local waters and brought to our docks daily by local fishermen, then cleaned and prepared right here at the Lone Cedar Cafe. Our vegetables are "just picked" from North Carolina farms, we serve only all-natural beef and poultry and even our herbs and greens are grown in our own chemical-free garden on-site. Come enjoy delicious food, gorgeous sunsets and panoramic water views, the antics of our resident ospreys and our warm Southern hospitality.

Fine Seafood, Fresh Greens, Nice Decor

The wait staff was friendly. They seem optimized to permit groups to have a great time. They claim all their food is fresh and local, at least vegetables and seafood. Nice touch is the menu listing that reveals the name of the person who caught the fish. My rock fish was very good. Salad was fresh... read more

We went around 5:30 New Years Eve and did not have to wait for a table. I was happy to hear they did not take reservations that night so we had a chance to get in. It was packed before we left. There was a set menu with plenty of options and we both had the seafood platter. One seafood... More

I love the OBX and fresh seafood. I've been to Basnight's numerous times, it is usually a "must" when we're there. However, on most recent visit we left in disgust. Arrived and no one was waiting in lobby area. Hostess took us to a table and seated us. We literally waited there, with absolutely no contact from anyone, not even... More

I was thrilled with the freshness and flavor of the seafood. Cheese grits cake was ok ( a bit dryer than I expected) and salad greens were great. Clam chowder was different than what we are accustom to (clear broth) but very tasty. Service was fair thus the very good as opposed to excellent rating.

Make sure you get a table by the window if possible very scenic view of the water and our table was right next to a osprey nest but nobody was home. The food and service was great a little on the pricey side but very very good. Will go back again when we visit the OBX again.

Most restaurants in the Outer Banks (at least South of Nags Head) tend to close sometime between November and December so going North to Nags Head is about the only option. We were driving looking for a place to eat and saw the Lone Cedar Cafe and decided to give it a try. This is a big place and it... More

Great food, service and atmosphere. Luckily for us it was warm so we were able to sit outside and take in the view.
