We ordered two soups, one shrimp and grits, one wedge salad and one stuffed lobster. The wedge salad a little bit more blue cheese dressing then it should. The shrimp and grits was great but not the best I had earlier in the week. My companion's stuffed lobster was chewy. The She Crab soup and Lobster bisque was outstanding. Our... More

This is one of the most outstanding seafood dining experiences we have had from the she crab soup and iceberg lettuce (wedge salad with bleu cheese) appetizers to the entrees. Excellent service and quiet atmosphere with water view.

Everywhere we went in the area was packed this night, but we opted for Tale. We were told a 30 minute wait, but were seated in 15. I saw lots of people coming, going, and being served - all very efficiently, but not rushed. Our server was knowledgeable and helpful. Our food was some of the best we've had in... More

this restaurant is right on the sound, perfect view. The food and the service was excellent, I had tuna and it was cooked to perfection, I would highly recommend going here for dinner.

Whenever on vacation, we pick one splurge restaurant and on this trip we picked Tale of the Whale and have no regrets. We got there and although we had a little bit of a wait, it was no more than 15 minutes and they have a nice gazebo and benches overlooking the water where you can sit outside while you... More

Again my husband and I took the advise of the Tripdvisor critics and stopped in at the Tale of The Whale. We were going to try another restaurant that was recommended but found it closed. So we found this gem of a restaurant instead. The owner was especially nice. The group that came in ahead of us got the last... More

A bit pricey and worth it. Clear Hatteras chowder to start and then fresh local seafood for main course (tuna, shrimp and flounder) prepared in a variety of ways. Blackened tuna and shrimp in garlic, were probably the best dishes. Beyond the deliciousness of the food, the location, right on the sound, and the pleasant staff made for an outstanding... More

Awesome service - we had such a good waitress! Big portions for our appetizer and meal. Average prices and a great menu selection. Nice view right on the water.

I ordered prime rib and oysters. The oysters where fine, and plenty of them. Prime rib came out dead cold and gray looking, plus it was tough. My lady friend ordered scallops and shrimp. The shrimp was so over cook they could not be cut. The good part is as soon as the over cooked shrimp was mentioned the waitress... More

Food, service, atmosphere, portion size all excellent. Many fine seafood choices and other options. My husband had the She Crab Soup, and as a native of Baltimore, he knows his crab! He raved about it the entire evening. Our waitress was attentive and welcoming as were all the other staff members. Will certainly return.
