Still an “old school classic”. Beautifully decorated, warm welcome, excellent cocktail, lovely service by Tara . . . the seafood was as good as ever! So glad this gem of OBX has survived.

We have dined here for many years but this may be our last time. We went on Thanksgiving day with friends and hoped that the new owners would shine . Not only did they run out of turkey, but they substituted the turkey with baked...chicken fingers! The gravy was very thin and not very flavorful. The good element was we with our friends. The wine and salad were enjoyable but for $130+ taxes and tip (for 2 people) we didn't feel we got our money's worth.More
Very disappointed w new owners/chef specifically. Ran out of turkey for Thanksgiving. Waited an hour and 1/2 for food. Vegetable and gravy cold. Cranberry relish watery. Meal not enjoyable. GG martini small & overpriced.
Went there in the past and was always happy with the staff, food and atmosphere. It is however getting a bit too expensive for the average working class diner to afford.
We loved this restaurant - a total classic throwback in time. The decor and atmosphere were from the 1940s when the restaurant opened and just makes this place feel special. Service great - a greeter, a hostess, and waiter all nice and dressed up. The...pace of the meal slows time down and let’s you just enjoy your meal. The food was fantastic - from homemade bread to fresh fish and finally desert - amazing. Felt great when we left - rejuvenated and happy to be alive! Highly recommend!More
Oh, what a great night with birthday friends. Service was impeccable provided by Steve. The food was cooked and served to perfection. Our compliments to the chef. We eat out often and get disappointed with high prices for mediocre food and service. We were recommended...by another local person to order the prime rib. It was served medium rare just like we ordered it. It did not disappoint. Our friends ordered the broiled seafood platter and fried shrimp and both were happy with their choices. We all brought home doggy bags. If you are looking for a great meal in a beautiful setting, look no further.More
Our waitress, Michelle was amazing. She recommended the best dishes and told us the history of the restaurant family owned for the past 78 years. It was just sold and at least for the next 3 years it will remain the same name with just...a few modern updates . I hope the keep it as close as to what it was tonight. The food was excellent and the atmosphere and entertainment was wonderful. Hoping to return on this trip down here before we leave.. Thanks Michelle againMore
It was noisy on Sunday.Service was slow.Lobster Biscuits to thick.Fish platter, nothing to brake about. Never going back.
We have dinner here every time we come to the Outerbanks. It’s a tradition not to be missed. It’s nice to be in a restaurant that’s not noisy and chaotic. It’s a good old fashioned atmosphere and beautifully designed and decorated with antique dishes etc....Food is consistently delicious and fresh. I always order crab remick and so does husband. Their Old Fashioned drink is excellent! Also have tasty cheddar cheese spread and tasty hush puppies. Dessert is a must and order the smooth chocolate mousse.More
Very nice place, little less 'beach casual' than others, a nice change of pace. Classic American restaurant with everything on the menu. Gumbo was great. Service attentive and friendly. Music upstairs was fun. Call ahead to avoid any wait, though there was none on our...visit.More
Service is impeccable as well as the food. We’ve eaten here many times and never been disappointed. Even my 10 year old grandson talks very favorably of them and requests we eat there every trip we make to OBX.
Ambiance, service, incredible food, attention to details. A perfect SPECIAL OCCASION restaurant ! We will definitely be back!
The restaurant has an unusual policy of only allowing reservations to be made the late morning of the day requested. I had considered booking at another restaurant, but I am glad I went with Owen’s. The hostess was incredibly friendly and professional, the service was...great, and the food was fabulous. All of this was especially impressive given the location of the restaurant in a tourist area. Be sure to try their hush puppies.More
This restaurant is fantastic. From the cool 70’s vibe in the decor, to the professionalism among the staff, to the cleanliness of the restaurant, not to mention the quality of the meals we were served, it was top notch! We had fried shrimp and the...tuna steak. So, so good. Go eat here!More
We made a same day reservation at 11am for a 5:30pm dinner. When we arrived at the restaurant we immediately seated and quickly introduced to our Desmond, our server. Desmond has worked at the Owens’ Restaurant for more than ten years and he delivered exceptional...service. The meals were very good and very reasonably priced. I had a ten ounce tenderloin that was tender and perfectly prepared. If there was any disappointment, it was with patrons who dressed like they were eating at a McDonalds. It was a clash between a very nice five star establishment with one star tourists who looked like they had not taken a shower after leaving the beach, still dressed in t-shirts, sandy shorts and flip flops.More
