Great small local place with favor (food and atmosphere)

We were in for Breakfast Saturday, which was their 2d day of this season. Food was great; waitress was helpful and cheerful and you're eating in the atmosphere of an old Nags Head cottage, right across from the beach and near Jockey's Ridge. Oh, and they have a full bar for thirsty beach... read more

Pleasant staff and an interesting menu. We enjoyed our Eggs Benedict, which I suppose was a breakfast dish, but as it was 11.45 we thought we would call it brunch and asked for the dessert choices. However the manager had decreed it was not lunch time and the deserts were not available. Pity, I'm sure they would have been good.

Always happy to hear when the Old Nags Head Cafe' reopens! Had breakfast there on their first day open (5/1/15), and it was so good, I came back today! Had their French Toast and Western Omelette - both delicious! Grits were the best I have had in a long time! Bacon was cooked perfectly and the coffee was spot on!... More

It's a nice looking place with the charm of the Outer Banks but there are many other places I'd rather eat. There was nothing special about the food, average not bad but nothing to remember either. It's not worth the time at least for dinner. Other reviews speak well of the breakfast so perhaps that's the time to go but... More

The place seemed promising when we first entered as people were friendly. However, the service is very slow, if not painful, and we had to wait a very long time to pay as the credit card machine was not working. The food was average with small portions and lacking on culinary creativity. I can see the appeal as it is... More

Real southern biscuits, access to apple butter, best hash browns ever, eggs to order and three big ole country store windows to eat in front of! What's not to love!

They messed up a little but we didnt care. The chipped beef on homemade bread was delicious, I had to send my eggs over easy back they were overdone but they made all right and reduced the bill. Really cute inside. Service was so nice I was sorry I said anything.

We began to vacation at OBX many years ago and always ate at Jockey' Ribs because it was truly delicious - the ribs and fried chicken to die for! This year we came back after a hiatus and found our memorable restaurant had changed names. We tried the breakfast one day and it was delicious with great service and not... More
