Oceanfront Eating

The Nags Head Pier Restaurant has always held a certain amount of nostalgia for me and my family. For over 25 years, it has been the go to place to sit out on the sun porch and watch the ocean, fishermen and surfers. There are very few places left on the Outer Banks of NC where you can eat... read more

Every time we get to the Outer Banks we go to the Nags Head Pier - good food, good help. Once you eat dinner, you get a free pass onto the pier. Perfect for seeing the sunset and talking with the fishermen. While eating you can watch the waves roll in and the sea gulls flying by - we usually... More

I have been coming to the area for 40 years and never stopped in. Glad we did. My family of four had an adventurous breakfast on the pier. Food was unique with many of the southern dishes named after relatives of the owners or long gone regulars. The JC special was excellent with biscuits, scrambled eggs, cheese, sausage patties then... Our first time here for breakfast, and we had "heard" their breakfast was good. My wife and I had Western & Veggie Omelets. Disappointed that the Omelet's insides appeared to be almost minced, and the ham like chopped lunchmeat. Needed to be more chunky and of more (quality) substance, and with some flavor/seasoning. They were very bland/plain. The home style... More

We saw reviews on Trip Advisor and decided to stop. Waitress was friendly and actually pointed out some Dolphins passing by in the water. Food was good; not extraordinary. I had grilled tuna which was cooked to requested fineness. My friend had the fried fish basket and said it was good. Great view of beach and peer while we ate.

The Pier was walkable from our beach house, so I went twice. The staff was friendly, the view - perfect, and the food was delicious. My first day Flounder sandwich put me right into vacation mode. The next day I returned for an oyster basket. It was even better!

The food is good but not all that important. The atmosphere is incredible. You literally sit over the beach and waves crashes under you. I did enjoy my first very fresh trout. Hubby had a great oyster sandwich. All meals available. You can watch the fishermen at the peir and surfers too.

We ate here on our anniversary. It was very casual. Our server was very friendly and answered any questions. I noticed other servers very friendly to their customers as well. After dinner we were encouraged to walk along the pier to enjoy the fresh air and see the fishermen with smiling faces coming back with their catches, and seagulls hovering,... More
