The setting is enough to encourage someone to stop for a meal. Your choice of the Sugar Shack Seafood Mkt. or the Restaurant. After eating at the restaurant several times I must admit that I've had some good meals and others that were average. I can't say anything bad about the restaurant simply that on occasion it is similar to... More

I like this Restaurant for lunch as the prices are far more reasonable. They have daily specials, they use fresh local seafood, and the views just can't be beaten.

As the scenic photos show, this is a great spot for seeing the Albemarle Sound just south and east of Manteo, NC. It's close by Jeanette's Pier & about 15 mins or so drive fm both Bodie Lighthouse & the Pea Island Natl Wildlife Refuge. But you DON'T have to go into the restaurant to get the great views! Having... More

We went on the last day that they were going to be open for the season. This may be a fine place to eat during the in season but I cannot give them a glowing review. The soups we had were so so. seafood bisque and clam chowder. The salmon cakes had no flavor and screamed for onions, celery etc... More

We always enjoy Sugar Creek every time we are in OBX. The food is great and to sit and watch a sunset over the sound is icing on the cake.

Seafood doesn't get any fresher down here. If you want food as good but less expensive go next door to the market. They specialize in lightly fried and when you are done you can buy fresh seafood to go. The restaurant is fancier, more variety more service and more expensive.

We wanted some great seafood and did not get it here. All of our dishes were terrible complete with cold frozen vegetables.

My first visit to SCR was amazing! The food was excellent; but the service was even better. I have worked as a server in many restaurants before and certain small things servers do make all the difference. Monica was on the ball last night! She kept our glasses full and made sure we had everything we needed. I will definitely... More

Eddie Z here again. Went to sugar creek fish today for clam chowder and shrimp basket with fries. Unfortunately the sweet potatoe fries were the best item on both plates.the clear chowder soup was salted beyond salted and the shrimp looked like rubber.the sweet potatoe fries won best on plate and were crispy and unsalted.pretty sad when fries win over... Had pan seared rockfish which was WAY overlooked. So dry couldn't finish. Rest of dinner was good. But stay with fried. Others in party thought fried shrimp was good.
