Description: Famous diner featured on the Andy Griffith show. Most popular food choice is the porkchop sandwich. This porkchop is so tender it's like eating pie. Best meal of our 3 day trip!

The business is closed permanently. There is a new restaurant across the street called McArthur's On Main. They opened in July and they were also opened on Labor Day.

Very disappointed that the establishment was closed today. Mt. Airy was busy with shoppers as this is a tourist town. About the only place open was Barney's and Walkers Soda. Pls consider being open next year. Several shops were even closed that are usually open. If this trend continues we will discontinue our day trip to Mt. Airy on Labor... More

We sat down at 5:40 pm to grab a bite before heading to see a show down the street. There was a car show going on downtown that night, so place was pretty full. Waitress came out and took our drink orders within a reasonable time, same with our food order. Then the wait began. This place closes at 6... More

You may find this to define the "greasy spoon". Mayberry atmosphere, but perhaps biggest attraction is the many testimonial cards and letters posted throughout. Food is good enough, but the extra seasoning may come from nostalgia in the air.

Stopped in for a burger. Was home made and loved that it wasn't sopping in grease. Very healthy portion too. Best baked tater I have had! Very attentive wait staff. Loved all the memorabilia under the glass on all the lunch tables. Ice cream looked yummy too.

The pork chop sandwich was great. The server was friendly but slow. The atmosphere was enjoyable. Loved my trip to Mayberry.

I wanted to eat at the diner that Andy & Barney always referenced in The Andy Griffith Show. So we stopped in for a late (by Mt Airy standards) dinner. They had the fried porkchop sandwich on special and since I didn't get to eat at Snappy Lunch, I decided to go with that. It was delicious. I added chili... More

We stopped by mid afternoon for a scoop of ice cream. They were kind of busy so we sit at the counter and were waited on and served very quickly. Placed seemed very clean and the menu looked pretty good. The next time we are in the area we plan to stop by for a meal.
