Enjoyed lunch today at Barney's after touring the Andy Griffith Museum. Country fried steak with gravy real mashed potatoes and a wide variety of choices as sides. Served with cornbread or dinner rolls. I tried the North Carolina soda Cheerwine tastes like cherry coke. Service was fast and definite diner atmosphere.Too full to try desserts but had homemade cakes, pie and... More

We were in Mount Airy for the day only. About 1 1/2 hours from our home. It was about lunch time and were getting hungry. We had our little Yorkie with us and had to order the sandwiches to go. We ordered a Barney burger, grilled cheese and two grilled chicken and cheese. We walked a couple of blocks after... More

good sandwiches and burgers reasonably priced. We sat at the counter and got to see the homemade cakes under glass get sliced up for the customers. They have good old fashioned milk shakes. Service was fast and friendly. No line while we were there so if you can"t get in to Snappys go down the street and get a taste... More

My wife and I ate here on Sunday. We were surprised how drastically different Main Street looks on Sunday vs. Saturday. When we walked around on Saturday the street was packed with people. We got here on Sunday around 11:30 and were surprised how quiet everything was. The same held true with the restaurant. When we walked in there were... More

The food was very good. My wife had a cheeseburger and thought the meat was fresh not frozen. Bacon club was great. No credit or debit cards but they let you know upfront and an ATM is around the corner. Nice small town atmosphere.

Good grill food at great prices. We often eat here for a quick lunch. Daily specials, usually homemade veggies and a meat like meatloaf or chicken and dumplings. The cakes and pies are really good. Very good prices.

We should have just went to Miss Angels Heavenly Pies first..but was told by a local they preferred the pies at Barney's so we got a chocolate and coconut pie. It was good but not wonderful. You can tell they are homemade though. Good in a pinch but I know I like the cakes at the other place mentioned but... More

Sit at the counter, look at the Mayberry pictures and posters, and enjoy a home cooked meal. It was very fun and the prices were 'small town', too. For six bucks, I got chicken pot pie, fried squash, sweet potato casserole and cornbread. My hubby got the Barny Burger and enjoyed that, too.

We stopped at Barney's for lunch last Saturday on a whim, and especially enjoyed the atmosphere, with sketches of Barney and other Andy Griffith Show characters around. I was excited about the menu having breakfast food at lunch, but the western omelet I ordered was a little on the flat side. (It tasted okay, though.) I was disappointed that they'd... More

The restaurant was packed at lunch by both locals and tourists. The menu is simple, I had the Barney burger, sounded good, but had no flavor. My husband had the club sandwich, which was fine, except for the way they cut it, made it hard to hold. The restaurant could use some cleaning. The service was fast and friendly.
