VERY mediocre!!

Overcooked oysters and fried flounder was thin, thin--all batter & no fish!! We took 5 people and spent over $125.00 ( not including tip). The only redeeming feature was our server was great!!

We took our family, 6 adults and one child. Colin was our server and was wonderful. Great view of the water, but with our 3 year old, probably should have eaten on the deck. Steak was wonderful as were shrimp nachos. Fried shrimp was good. My wife got Mahi-Mahi and it was o.k. Soft drinks are expensive ($2.50). Overall, a... More

The food is always good, fresh and reasonable. Fish can be blackened, grilled, fried or sautéed. The waitstaff is usually students so they are very friendly and on the ball. The desserts looked great, but the dinner portions are large so I didn't try dessert.

Don't really understand some of the negative reviews. This place is exactly what it is, a solid fried seafood and simple fare place. Have come down from DC for many years to drop off and pick up kid from camp seagull. Would not consider the trip a success without lunch at the sanitary. Best soft shell crab sandwich at a... More

We stopped because it was busy and expected the food to be excellent. Its been around for a long time. Service was slow, the scallops were terrible, sent them back and got shrimp, and they were just as bad. It appears to be a local restaurant with loyal patrons. Would not recommend this for place for any meals.

My family and I went to this restaurant as recommended by the locals but it was a very bad selection. The service was very poor and the wait staff did not give us the listing of specials for the day and did not fill our water along the way. The server was absent for most of the time and did... More

Don't let the name scare you. It's a landmark. Serving fresh seafood fast. We had broiled scallops, shrimp and flounder and fried shrimp along with hush puppies. It was all delicious. Fast seating and quick service. Maybe stayed an hour because we were watching the rain pour over the water. Loud and busy, full of large families but as long... More

A wide ranging menu. Friendly, efficient service and a chance to try bluefish for the first time - excellent!

It has been said by travelers and locals alike that the 'Sanitary' is living on past reputation. i believe that to be true, as the meal was pedestrian, at best. My wife and I wanted to be 'wowed' by the crab cakes, but they simply did not deliver. Even the shrimp cocktail was bland.Yet another place that has not learned... More

On a whim, we drove from Greenville to Morehead City to have lunch at the Sanitary, or "Tony's" as its affectionately called in my family. As usual, the food didn't disappoint. We got there early enough to be seated by the water, and enjoyed the scenery and great good. This was our first time taking our son, who is still... More
