I paid $15.95 for canned green beans and greasy under breaded fried oysters. A real disappointment. The service and atmosphere were both wonderful.

My husband and I both grew up near the beach and love good seafood. We were excited to try Sanitary as it has such a great reputation. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. The food was fine -- just not anything to write home about -- which was the expectation. The service was a little on the slow... More

We have been here a number of times over a number of years while on vacation. Usually my husband and I and another couple. For some reason the guys like it better then the women. I am not impressed and didn't really want to go back this year, only went to please others. I ordered lump crab in butter and... More

I honestly do not see what the big deal is about this place.....it was just average at best, and for the money there are better places to go....if you just want a plate of fried seafood, I can usually get better back home than all the way down here

I'd been told this was a great place so I didn't check on it. After we ordered, which took a while, even though they weren't busy, I decided to read about it. I hoped the bad reviews were wrong. They weren't! I don't know how my husband ate his pasty looking tiny fried shrimp and barely cooked fries. My shrimp... More

We were slapped with a 15℅ surcharge added to the bill that was already exceeded $75 for three adults and a 4 year old child that was asleep most of the time. They advertised flounder and popcorn shrimp for $12. Instead they served me three tiny strips of cat fish and 15 shrimp that were to small to be used... More

Food and service were great. Sat outside beside the water and watched the sunset. The lanterns they had were a great touch!

Second trip to Sanitary. It's a favorite of my daughter and son-in-laws; so we usually visit if we're in the area. They have a large selection of seafood and the fried shrimp I had was okay. I felt the cost for our 3 meals was a little steep. I guess I expected more food for the price.

I was brought to this restaurant by a good friend while visiting Cape Carteret. My friend got a plate of some kind of deep fried seafood and I ordered a combination platter with broiled shrimp and scallops. We each ordered a Long Island iced tea cocktail and the bill was more than $80 before the tip. Although my plate was... More

We road down to Morehead City to visit the Sanitary. The visit was very good. The service was excellent and FAST. We had 6 in our party of friends and we all ordered sea food. Some had popcorn shrimp, fried cat fish, broiled flounder. The hush puppies are good and they will bring plenty. I will say it is a... More
