Not The Best Of Anything Except Service

My wife had the flounder fish tacos and I had the Mahi-Mahi platter. Both of our meals were over cooked. My platter came with fried green tomatoes. Who puts mozzarella cheese over these tomatoes that had no breading? They did have very good onion rings. In the end, there is no reason to go back... read more

After recommendations from others we went. Food was so-so, cost was high. Probably would not go back

The pros: very friendly staff, great view when seated outside on the docks The waitress was excellent! I really enjoyed her. The cons: the food really isn't good, the scallops were dry and rubbery, the portions are tiny, the food wasn't seasoned, and extremely overpriced. For this to be one of the most renowned places in the area, we were... More

As noted by most very good service. Nice to sit outside and watch all the boats. Good food for a reasonable price. Hush puppies are great and get the onion rings not fries! Fries not crispy but onion rings just right. Light batter and delivered hot. Good place for lunch!

We had dinner on the deck and the view was awesome. Inside they had a man playing piano inside which made the atmosphere very nice. The man waiting on us was extremely nice and did a great job. The hush puppies they serve complimentary are delicious. We both got the broiled seafood plate. The shrimp, scallops, and flouder were ok... More

For me, the meal was excellent. My wife did not react as favorable, partly because of the type of cooking. The menu was fairly complete, but the seafood should be ordered. It has many choices and options. There should be something to please most anyone. This restaurant holds about 400 or so patrons. It is a must to visit when... More

We ate in several good restaurants on our recent trip to the area, and we enjoyed our meal at the Sanitary the most. It's hard to beat sitting outdoors watching the boats pass by. Our service was excellent. The reason we liked the Sanitary best was the fresh local seafood. We ate the broiled bluefish and pecan-encrusted triggerfish. Both fish... More

We've visited Sanitary's for over 20 years and still haven't had a good meal. Why do we always return? It's a classic. Located on the waterfront with large windows, this is a great place for big family gatherings or families with children. Sometimes it really IS the company you're with and not the food. There's always laughter and lots of... More

Environment is great! Boats passing you as you eat fresh seafood. The food was good. I had the broiled flounder and fried shrimp. I really appreciated the history of the restaurant and the numerous pictures on the walls since 1938.
