Countryside is a great overall restaurant. The sandwiches and steaks are good. Most people like the barbecue, which is good. I mean, the president of the US ate there, so it must be pretty good. See for yourself. Countryside is worth the stop. Highly recommended!

Their BBQ is ok. I like a juicier BBQ. There's was dry. Their chicken is good. My personal favorite thing is their Saturday morning breakfast buffet. They have the best gravy in town.

Went to Marion to deliver dog food to the Mercy Animal Rescue folks. Stopped by on our way out of town from Marion today. Family restaurant for locals. The BBQ is good as is the smoked chicken. Service was fine and the price is very good. Not much on atmosphere but we weren't there for that.

Had the BBQ sandwich and it was big flavor for a great price. Although I'm a long time devotee to Eastern NC BBQ which is vinegar based sauce, this BBQ was delicious. The green beans couldn't be good for you diet-wise they were way to full of flavor!

I've lived in this area for 20 years and used to live in Marion. This place is a local favorite, as it has wonderful country cooking plus good service. I've never had a bad experience here. It's been in business over 20 years. I don't live close enough to go frequently anymore, but whenever I have business which takes me... More

My party of two was an informal business dinner with a coworker. The food was good, prices more than fair and the service quick and friend. The parking lot was packed with 'locals' for hours - which is always a good sign.

This is a fav of the locals; and they line up to eat most evenings. Breakfast here is great also; just like or maybe better than home cooking.

My backpacking buddy & I try to schedule our mountain trek sojourns around ending up here on Wednesdays to gorge ourselves on the "cut it with a fork" Pot Roast (PR) "Special" that includes bacon seasoned green beans, fresh fluffy whipped potatoes with clear PR broth gravy drizzled across the top of both potatoes and roast, fresh cut corn, mayonaise... If you are looking for a great BBQ place while driving on Highway 40 across North Carolina, I would recommend stopping at the 'Countryside BBQ Restaurant' outside of Marion, North Carolina. My wife and I stopped for a late lunch, and the food was very good. The atmosphere is a down-home atmosphere, and is very relaxing. I would highly recommend... More

We were hosting a RV rally and Countryside was recommended to us . . . they provided a dinner for 16 people at the rally park that included everything (chicken, bbq, slaw, beans, hush puppies, rolls, tea, cobbler, and all the paper goods) for under $10 a person . . . and there was plenty left over . . ....
