Liked it, but . . . .

I would not necessarily recommend this restaurant to others, but would probably go back myself. The food (breakfast) was very good, but there were only two other people there on a Saturday morning (albeit in December), and it looked like the floor had not been swept in a while. Service was good... read more

My family and I spent 2 to 3 weeks at our cabin in Soco Gap every year for almost twenty years and I would never have even considered going to Soco and not going to the Mountaineer at least once while we were there each year, usually twice and sometimes three or more times. They used to have a country... More

We live very close to the Mountaineer and eat there about once a month. I don't know why they don't have more business. The menu is fairly varied, the food is always good, and the service is always good. It's about 2 miles west of Maggie Valley on Highway 19. Give it a try.

We stopped here for a lunch. The food is ok but nothing to write home about. The waitress was not friendly at all. "The atmosphere was like blah! There are pretty views out the table side window. But as far as coming back....nope!

My review is based on the overall experience. The place has great views out back, but it was too cool. I would love to sit out on the back deck and have a casual lunch while taking in that view. My son and I both got the cheese-steak sandwiches, which were a tad small but very tasty. The fries were... More

What a quaint restaurant! Beautiful views. Breakfast was good and we were able to eat outside. This place has great potential!

The Mountaineer Restaurant lives up to its name. Country cooking and it is Gooood. Breakfast and Lunch are my favorites but get there early. A favorite place to eat by both travelers and locals. Just can't go wrong at The Mountaineer!

We have ate here occasionally on trips and usually the food has been good. The one waitress was good .The views are still outstanding but there was no eating outside for it was wet.We spent time doing the puzzles and the million dollar wish book.It seemed like this place has a slower pace and also a relaxing one.

Was ok place. Would not go back. Didn't find much on the menu that appealed to either of us. Place wasn't busy which should have told us something.

Ate lunch with family on our Maggie Valley visit. The view is stunning and the food very good. Waiter even allowed our daughter to order a breakfast item. We look forward to our next visit.
