On a recent Sunday evening, 4 of us went to J. Arthur's expecting an outstanding meal. We found the service extremely uneven and the prices quite high compared to other restaurants in the area. Thankfully there was an Early Bird menu so we were able to have a meal without breaking the bank. The steak prices were so outlandish that... More

My family had dinner at J. Arthurs this past weekend and the vote was split 50/50 on ever returning. It was a busy night in Maggie Valley so the wait was about 45 minutes for a table. Our waiter was attentive and quickly took care of any request made by our group. Warm bread was brought to the table and... More

Went to dinner shortly after the early bird specials. Did not see much difference in price except a side option or salad no charge. Server was very friendly and quick. We were in and out within an hour. The food was average. Chicken Marsala and chicken Parmesan were both cooked with thick chicken breast. Neither were pounded thin into cutlets... More

After spending the day in Great Smokey Mountain National Park, we were starving as we returned to Maggie Valley on Sunday. Not many places were open so when we saw the sign we knew we found our spot. Our server was the best...knew all about the menu and how the food was prepared. We had the Grilled Trout with Cheese... More

We did in fact start a new point of sale system on Tuesday of this week so your server was not making excuses about your drinks. The extra drink should have been taken off your check, and I would be happy to refund your entire meal as you felt it was fast food grade. We hand patty our burgers and... More

We ate there two nights while we were in Maggie Valley, NC. The first night the service and food were excellent. The next night the food was great but the service was bad. Food was great but I guess the service vary's from night to night.

This place was reccommended by the people who own/operate the Cabins where I stayed. They said it was the BEST place in town, but also pricey. I didn't find it pricey in fact the Cobb Salad ($9.99) with Steak (6.99) was reasonable and cooked to order nicely. The young man tending bar where I sat was friendly and efficient. What... More

Hi, and thank you for reviewing us. The guests you are referring were more than welcomed to sit and have a drink as we did still have the bar open. The grill, fryers, and steam tables were completely shut off and most of our kitchen staff had left for the evening. We had not had any guests through the door... More

Had been a couple of years since my previous review of J. Arthurs, so thought I would give them another chance--could have improved. I had a JUMBO shrimp cocktail and ice tea for $17.00; they added their own gratuity. The shrimp turned out to be FIVE medium shrimp. I checked out the others in my party; no one complained, but... Im confused as to why you paid $17.00 for a shrimp cocktail and iced tea; our shrimp cocktail which are 16/20 in size costs $8.99, and our unlimited tea is$2.49. Please contact my office if you were in fact overcharged. As far as fried shrimp, we do serve 5 as stated on the menu. It states clearly on our menu... More

We ate here our last evening in Maggie Valley and wish we had tried it earlier in the week. My Filet Mignon and my wife's Ribeye were both cooked perfectly medium rare. The potatoes were nice and fluffy and the rolls were fresh and hot. The service was very friendly and I really can't complain about the portions as we... More
