We went here based on the owner's list of recommended spots (place we stayed), and it was not good at all. The quality and preparation were like no one has ever told them that there is better product and a better way to prepare food. Save your money and go elsewhere. My husband wanted the pecan trout, but they were... More

I went to Salty Dog’s with my family, because my brothers are friends with the owner’s son… It was different. The server was rather fast with taking our orders and provided the best service possible for such a large group of people, there are 10 in my family and that is not including extras. The food… Not so tasty. I... More

Was very hesitate about trying this place due to other reviews, but you can please everyone. We were there at the end of the season and the food was fresh, and good. We recommend the pecan crusted Grouper fingers, Yum! We both had sandwiches, My husband the blackened grouper and I the fresh tuna. We'll be back 😊

We took out family on a ski trip and wanted to try a local restaurant. We asked a local and was told the Salty Dog was great! Our experience was quite different. We were seated at a booth with ripped seats with dirty windows. We thought it would be safe the order the fish sandwich special. We waited about 10... More

We had gone to Maggie Valley to have lunch and saw Salty Dog's. Thought we would try it out. Surprised that they offered clams, oysters, shrimp, scallops, mussels and a variety of other food. I had the grilled mountain trout and it was very good. The fried oysters are also very good. We will be back to try some their... More

Great service and friendly folks! Cold beer. We have eaten here many times. The fried green beans were a hit! The lunch special was a fried shrimp basket. Very reasonably priced. Love the food.

First place we went out to eat and we were dissapointed. Fried pickles were great. Server was great. However the main meals came out cold and the shrimp was not cooked. Green beans had a good taste but they were cold as well. We were one of two tables and figured food would be very fresh and hot. We saw... More

I was with a group of 16 seniors who walked in about 6:15 PM. They had two long tables already set up (not for us - just the way the restaurant is set up). for 12 people. The only waitress seated us using the long table and a near-by booth. She took our drink orders, brought them and then took... More

I've been eating here since 2003 and have seen a continual decline in the quality of my favorite meal here. I've given them 3 chances to do it right and it just keeps getting worse. The tuna steak sandwich was fantastic the 1st time I ordered it but each time I've ordered it over the past couple of years it's... More
