Nice surprise

Chicken was excellent. Not too spicy, not too bland and not greasy! The potato salad is a southern version, not the straight up mayo and mustard NY deli style. It's good but it is a little different. Same goes for the cole slaw. There is a touch of sweetness to it,again different from the NY deli... read more

I must admit I was always a big KFC fan (original recipe), but Smithfield's chicken is far better, IMO. I think it is very good value too...bigger pieces of chicken than their competition at good prices.

We did take out and were very disappointed. The barbeque was very vinegary and no one suggested that we might want some barbeque sauce to put on top. I found the meat ok only and the other person in our group hated the meat, esp. without sauce. So back in hotel room we were not happy. The slaw was ok... More

We stopped in Lumberton for the night and were looking around for a place to eat. We stumbled on Smithfields and decided to try it. Wow the service was superior! We were so impressed with the way were waited on. I have been to high end restaurants that were not as solicitious!! We decided on the BBQ platters and were... More

Picture this, we are on our way back from Parris Island, SC driving north to Connecticut and love the Smithfield Chicken so much that we stopped in and got chicken and 4 gallons of sweet tea to go. That’s right 4 gallons. Being from New England, sweet tea is rare up north. After I had got the tea to bring... More

I do like fried chicken. There are lots of chicken chains: KFC, Bojangles, Popeyes, for example, but Smithfield's is the best. It is a North Carolina Company with about 3 dozen locations, all in NC. Although this is not a waitress oriented place, orders are brought to the table, and whoever is out on the floor stops by often to... More

We stopped here for a late dinner after checking in at a nearby motel. This place lived up to its high TA rating. We both had the same items except for drinks - BBQ chicken, fried chicken, fries, coleslaw, and hush puppies. The BBQ chicken was North Carolina style (hello, we were in North Carolina) in that it was vinegar... More

I would like to give it negative stars! The food was absolutely horrible. Although the counter person was very nice, the potato salad made with honey mustard and the cole slaw made with Miracle Whip were too gross to even swallow. The barbeque sauce tasted like it was made with some type of red dye, vinegar and sugar - no... More

We have been stopping here for their chicken for years. Best around. Moist and full of flavor. Puts most chicken places to shame.

We always stop here on our way to/from Florida and pick up cold bbq and sides for our dinner at the end of a long drive. The service is warm and friendly and the food is tasty.
