I hate to write this because this was a place I liked to eat. It is about an hour from my home so I don't have the opportunity to eat there very often. I waited a few days to write this review in hopes that I would hear back from management regarding this issue but since I haven't heard back... More

We see this place every time we drive down I-85 and finally decided to stop. Was pleasantly surprised with my large portion of ribs, quite tasty. The hush puppies were darn tootin good as well. My son had the pulled pork and we both decided it was good enough for a return trip. Prices were good and service was good.

This is our go to place for BBQ in Gastonia. Also enjoy their BBQ chicken and steaks. My wife even likes their hotdogs. And the prices are very reasonable, especially at lunchtime.

Stopped in while driving by on the interstate, hungry for BBQ. The place was busy even on a Monday night. The service was slow and inattentive. I had the pulled pork, it was OK, and their BBQ sauce was pretty bland. Decent prices.

Our experience here was limited to take-out. The wait was longer than expected for chopped beef sandwiches, considering the restaurant was nearly empty at the time. The pit master's explanation was that he chopped the beef to order. During our wait, the seating hostess kept checking back with us. She couldn't have been sweeter - the kind of courtesy and... More

The service was good, and the atmosphere was good. But that's about where the 'good' ended. I honestly think the best part of our meal was the hush puppies served as an appetizer. I also really liked their sauce. However...my ribs were very dry, coleslaw was barely edible [did not taste fresh], and both the french fries and sweet potato... More

The barbecue is one of the best you'll find it anywhere. With so much to choose from, I always end up choosing the combination plates to get as many different items as I can. The decor is locally inspired, and whimsically displayed. The main attraction is the cooking pit in the front of the restaurant. The wonderful smells make me... More

We used to be very loyal customers of Hillbilly's; not anymore. We went here for my son's eighth birthday because this is his FAVORITE place to eat. We went when they first opened, so we'd know there wasn't a crowd and everything would be fresh. Imagine our surprise when our son, a bar-b-que addict, ate two bites and stopped, even... More

The open pit used to cook the meats fill the restaurant will delightful scents and you try to decide which of the items to order...it sure is hard to pick just one...or two...:) The building itself is a bit outdated, but it is supposed to look like an old timey place, so it works. Everything about this place reminds me... More

I have been bringing my family here for years and I have always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere that it has to offer. They do not serve alcohol which is something I like since it makes the place more family friendly. The food is always good and hot and they offer a wide selection to cater to various tastes.... More
