A worthwhile detour off the Parkway

I'm generally prefer Eastern NC style barbecue, but my pulled pork sandwich was wonderful. (I did add more sauce from the bottles on our table.) The fresh-made sourdough bun helped and the French fries were light and crispy. My wife had the BBQ plate and especially liked her sides of collards and... read more

My wife and her friends were more interested in the antiques sold at the store, I was hungry. So we all had lunch at the restaurant and it was great. We had a pulled pork sandwich and baked beans as a side. it was the best BBQ meal I'd had in quite a while. As an added treat there was... More

An old country store at the end of a one lane bridge. On the weekends you can find bluegrass music and some of the best BBQ in the area. After you've eaten you can visit the artist galleries and antique stores on the property. Lots of fun

When I was very young, my uncle took me to this store for some BBQ, and I remember it being delicious and was on fresh sour dough bread. I went back just a month ago - must have been close to 20 years since I've been, and it spoiled me for BBQ and Banana Pudding forever. I was happy eating... More

The atmosphere here is like stepping back in time. Here, you don't have to rush in and out of a meal. The art gallery and store are so neat and you get the sensation of going through rustic finds with pottery and iron works, glass what knots that remind you of grandma's house. The outside is appealing. as you can... More

You can spend hours roaming this wonderful, old country store with all of its fun and interesting merchandise, while at the same time listening to live blue grass musicians (on the weekends) who play at one end of the store. Plus, they serve good food (they especially are known for their BBQ). A great place to browse, come alone, with... More

I stopped here on a weekday in early October and the place was packed. I was finally able to get a table for a bite to eat and the baked beans were pretty good and the cobbler was good. While here I looked around the store and found some items that you can only find in backroad touristy places (local... More

I went to the Hampton store on a weekday in October while in the area. The whole place looked like a ghost town. there were no cars, the shopping area next door looked closed. We went inside the store, which was open but the restaurant area was not. It was dark. There was a woman working there, on the phone... More
