They have really good specials and their chicken casserole was very good. They really know how to pile on the food. Very busy around lunch time.

I love the selection of vegetables here. The food always comes to the table hot. They have a nice selection of country favorites. This is not a fancy place but food is good.

Four of us stopped here for breakfast on our way between SC and VA for a Saturday wedding. The restaurant was nearly full at 8:30 so we were seated in an 'overflow' area. The attention of the waitress was quick and the food service was almost quicker. The only thing we had to ask for was silverware. Among our group... More

Southern Lunch is a great place for many things, but the one thing you won;t really find here is BBQ.. they leave it up to the other places in town. But with that said it allows them to excel in the things the do best and that is plate lunches! From Daily selections to regular menu items, it is just... More

When the furniture factories were busy, the place was Busy. Cheap food at cheap prices next door to the old (defunct) train depot and now defunct factories. Food and beverages are now served on/in the fine Styrofoam with plastic utensils. It's down home cookin'. Grits and margarine, scrambled eggs and two slices of bacon with white toast is the only... You must make the detour to stop here on your way through North Carolina! It was the perfect Sunday lunch stop. We waited outside under a tent in plastic chairs for about 10 minutes, and it was well worth the wait. We appreciate all of the previous reviewers who made sure this #1 rated restaurant got our attention. Our waitress... More

Camping in area and drove into town for lunch, and to check out the area. what a wonderful surprise! Off the Main street and not an outstanding building...but the food and service is. Had the red fish special and it was grilled to perfection. Flakey and moist. A huge portion too. Best pricing too. The service was exceptional. We will... More

This is my second review of this restaurant. I have been here several times since my first visit and I love it!! The grilled chicken and white fish are both AMAZING! The broccoli casserole is my absolute favorite, along with the squash casserole. The cornbread is awesome... I really can't speak enough about this restaurant. I don't know how I... More

Have been eating at Southern Lunch for years. It's a family owned business and they treat their customers as family! The waitresses are always so kind and make sure you have a pleasant experience. The food is just good old home-cooking and you cannot beat it! We eat there often and love breakfast, lunch & dinner there.
