Fun place at the pier

We ate here on Wednesday night, which apparently the night when all entrees are 40% off, which made it a great deal. We both ordered the flounder fillets and easily could have shared one order. There were 2 huge fillets and fries and it was probably the best flounder I have ever eaten. The batter... read more

this is a typical local bar/eating establishment. My salad with jerk shrimp was good and my husband's seafood platter was typical. No complaints, but no raves either.

Though the ambience was not to my taste (dark, several tvs blaring, loud chatter and raucous laughter from the bar area which is right next to the restaurant seating) everything else was great. The salmon was cooked to perfection and had a delicious glaze, and the mashed sweet potatoes were yummy. The rolls were great--a bit crusty on the outside... More

Food and service where standard. Typical setup - TVs, loud, dark and crowded. Food seemed fresh and tasty but not decorated or in other ways outstanding. Service was friendly. Should have chosen a place with sea view and/or at least a more welcoming terrace.

Went today for lunch with my friend. I was going to order a salad (Griiled Salmon, because it is just so good here) but she saw the brunch menu and ordered the crab cake Benedict. So I decided to try it as well. Our orders came faster then I thought it would considering how busy it was. And to be... More

Food and service were excellent. Try the shrimp scampi you will not be disappointed! Not far away from the Kure Beach pier.

Tuesday was taco night with $1 tacos and they were great we also went back for Wednesday night 40 percent off all entries. My husband had a 12 oz ribeye and I had the select three fish platter with flounder, scallops and oysters all deep dat fried in a light batter, excellent and huge portions. Our waitress was so sweet!

Jack Mackerel's restaurant is located steps away from the Kure (pronounced "CURE - ee") Beach fishing pier. The seafood is very fresh and the amount of food provided is more than enough for you to make two meals out of one. The negative is that there is not a lot done creatively with seasonings or flavor. My wife loves shrimp... More

We like to visit during the off-season avoiding the many tourists that flock to this area in the summer. Their specialty is seafood with other choices available. Wait staff is courteous & the Island décor makes this a fun place for a meal. There is a large bar with TVs, 2 dining areas and several outdoor seating areas.
