We as tourists were tolerated...like old friends!

This is one of our favorite places we visited on our trip. The burgers were amazing, the fries were amazing, the atmosphere was great, the view from the top of the deck was breathtaking, the open mic night at Monte holds was so fun, and the staff was very friendly. We will be back!

The fries were simply amazing, but like other reviewers mentioned, little awkward when you walk in. Their slogan "locals welcome, tourist tolerated, sometimes" was accurate. Small eating area, don't take a large party.

This is exactly what we look for when we need breakfast. We recently visited and came back the next morning as well. Definitely a colorful local place, mostly local crowd in the off season, small, but quite friendly and hospitable. Sit at the bar to converse with the staff, or at a table. Either way we had good service and... More

My boyfriend, daughter and I went for breakfast. We heard the breakfast is amazing but they cater to the locals. Sooooo true! We walked in and everyone, EVERYONE turns to look at the door and not one staff member said a word and just looked away. We werent sure if we sat ourselves or had to wait. We waited a... More

Visited with my husband and two daughters, ages 5 and 7. The burgers and fries were excellent and the beer selection very good. The waiter and cook were very friendly. Cool vibe! We will definitely come back.

This is one of those places you might look at and want to go on down the street. Big mistake. I had one of the best burgers I've had in years here. Beer was cold and staff was pleasant. I'm sure during the warmer weather it can get packed fast. Not many tables inside but there was a front porch,... More

Had planned to visit for dinner but those plans changed. I was very glad to learn they also serve breakfast, so we went for Brunch instead. Low on atmosphere, basic menu selections. I had a French Toast Monte Cristo combination because it seemed creative. I thought the blend was a bit odd, but I really enjoyed all the parts individually.... More

Very small restaurant but we had no problem getting in probably much more difficult during the season BUT the burgers are incredible; as are the homemade fries A little heavy on the black pepper for me but nothing a little ketchup can't fix

Art's Place is the spot for a burger on the Outer Banks! Go ahead and eat some fries or onion rings as they also rock! It is a local relaxed atmosphere type of place. We visit every year and try to go only once but we end up back there for those awesome burgers!

I have reviewed Art's Place before, but had breakfast here this morning and I think it has gotten even better. I had the egg sandwich with bacon, tomato and cheese. I couldn't have made it better to my liking at home. They have a marbled rye bread that is baked locally. Outstanding addition for the sandwich. Bacon, bacon and more... More
