Good breakfast place

My wife and I had a good experience at this restaurant, and the food was above average. The food is ordered cafeteria style, and the staff hustles you along, so be ready with your order. I would recommend this place for breakfast, though it's a little pricey.

We were able to walk there form our vacation home. Food was great and we will be back on our next OBX vacation.

This is a breakfast place that you order at the counter like a cafeteria and then you are seated. I was not impressed with the cleanliness or vibe. The food was good but the atmosphere was just fair. I had pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon and coffee. Eggs were under cooked, bacon greasier than usual. Pancakes and coffee good. Very large... More

When we walked in the door, I was a little surprised. I didn't know what to expect, but it was different than anticipated. It was a blend of cafeteria style and a local owned restaurant. Food was great, the pancakes with the strawberry topping was amazing. Service was phenomenal. Recommend for a great breakfast!

My wife and I went here for breakfast while staying in the area. The decor is a bit dated and the place could do with a face lift and the cafeteria style ordering system is not my preferred style of ordering food (too many bad memories of foul school lunches I suppose). I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and a... More

If you can get past the decor & lack of "ambiance," you'll discover some great food! I had the breakfast quesadilla & husband has southwestern omelet. Hash browns (REAL chopped potatoes) accompanied both dishes. The ordering process was a bit strange and while waiting for food we noticed such things like painter's tape still on the wall/trim, portions of walls... More

The food was very good and the service great. An interesting mix of cafeteria style (for drinks and cold sides) and made-to-order. The menu board is on the wall overhead and there are multiple "specials" boards behind the serving line. The "cafeteria style" can make you feel rushed to order as there are people waiting behind you to place their... More

We were in Kitty Hawk for an overnight getaway stay and noticed there were not too many places that served breakfast until we found this one. What a find! The Stack em High serves the biggest breakfast I have ever eaten. The toast was made from giant slices of bread. The hash browns were the best homemade ever, the eggs... More

There's two Stack 'em High Pancake restaurants in OBX. This one, in Kitty Hawk, and the other further south in Kill Devil Hills. Last year we ventured out for breakfast and tried the KDH restaurant (at 1225 N Croatan Hwy). We loved it! Great food, great service, everything was wonderful. We went back the next day, and planned for Stack... More

Visited this restaurant on a Sunday morning in the off-season. DUH. But even so...25 minutes for pancakes and bacon? 15 minute wait for a coffee refill? A 15-minute cafeteria-style line to get in? I'll be fair and say that I'm grateful that this place was open when so many others are closed in the dead of winter in OBX, and... More
