I have heard of The Chef and the farmer for the last 4 years. MY son got a job in Kinston and so I decided it was time to check it out and make the 90 min drive...ok delicious, great service, bathrooms with cloth towels, easy parking, and just a great vibe. It is obvious the thought that goes into... More

And of course this is a great restaurant w/friendly & knowledgeable staff, great food (complete w/a touch of South in every dish), a tad uncomfortable wooden chairs and loud!!; but the fact that this couple are using their fame to give back to the community is what makes the experience even better.. Thank you for not starting yet another line... More

it took three weeks to get our reservations at 8pm on a weds. We turned the trip from Wilmington NC ( about 1 1/2 hours) into a day trip checking out all we could in Kinston including lunch, a swim at the local public pool, a visit to the planetarium and cocktails at the sister restaurant - the Boiler Room.... There has been much hype about this restaurant and it lives up to it. Try the flash fried collards for an appetizer. The entrees all looked good and the grilled monk fish was delicious. The desserts are all very tasty treats.

My friends told me about an interesting find of a restaurant that was on NPR. Boy was I surprised. The experience was solid from the moment we entered the restaurant. The history of this 9 year restaurant and the North Carolina ingredients were delicious. The waitress was very knowledgeable about each item on the menu, discussed the relationship with the... More

I have wanted to try this restaurant since watching Vivian's show and seeing her imaginative and flavorful food pairings. We are always looking for something besides all the fast food in Greenville, NC - too bad we have to travel 25 miles but this was so worth the drive. We were amazed at where the restaurant is since we drive... More

For nearly four decades, I enjoyed the very finest cuisine in Dallas, San Diego, Atlanta, and New York City. Arriving here in Eastern NC a number of years ago (in Greenville, the "Pitts" county), I lamented as my palate starved while trying to pretend to like some of the celebrated places locals held out as "wonderful" food. BLECH!! We've found... More

On this first visit experience, we thought all the reports of excellent and creative dishes were true. The approach to culinary combinations is interesting, unique (we thought similar to Eleven Madison Park in NYC), and, most importantly, delicious. From country ham wrapped peaches to the "simple" tomato pie to buttermilk pie with blackberries the taste buds were well exercised. The... More

I took a friend who was visiting Eastern NC to dinner at Chef & The Farmer tonight after hearing rave reviews from friends in Greenville. I've lived between Washington, DC and the Triangle area for the past 10 years, so I'll admit I came in with lowered expectations thinking that the food would be good by lesser standards, but not...
