Made reservations to eat a The Chef and the Farmer many months in advance as it is quite popular. Table for 4. When we arrived the table wasn't ready so we were invited to go to the bar area for a drink. We had to stand because the bar was full. Undertandable, because it was a Saturday night. We stood... My husband and I have been fans of the show and made the 3 hour trip for the first time but certainly not the last! Loved trying new and different menu items. Everything we had was wonderful. Our server Mallory was so sweet and helpful with recommendations. Loved having Ben come by the table to chat (sorry Chef was not... More

I was actually prepared to be disappointed, but in fact was very pleasantly surprised. My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary with dinner at CATF. We did not have reservations (this was 5:30 on a Saturday) but they were most pleasant, took us right in and seated us right away at the bar overlooking the kitchen. We did not... More

THE BEST restaurant in Eastern NC! There; I've said it. Once you go, you'll be back... I could go on and on, so just go!

This was by far one of the best dining experience I've ever had. Charmed by Chef Vivian on her PBS show, we made a special trip to Kingston taste some of her specialties. We were welcomed by hosts and servers who were truly hospitable and very knowledgeable about the menu. We loved the unique way that the oyster ceviche and... More

We arrived early for our reservation. We took the opportunity to instead sit at the bar. A great move. John was our bartender, and server. He was so fun. He made us great drinks (try the old fashioned), and was so accommodating. We had some of the best food we've had in some time. We enjoyed the pork belly skewers... More

We made a special stop in Kinston on our way home to Virginia Beach from Charleston just to eat at the Chef and the Farmer. We had never watched "A Chef's Life" before but had heard about the restaurant through a Northwestern University alumni publication (guess Ben the owner is an alum). My husband always likes to support NU alumni... More

My husband's lamb and vegetables were cold and we were seated close to the bar. My fish was good, great sauce. Will return.

After seeing the episode of PBS' Chef's Life featuring ramps we wanted to time our next visit to coincide with the arrival of these seasonal specialties. Due to this tear's weather they arrived late, but we were able to keep a "floating reservation" until the ramps were in and were not disappointed. The ramp pesto served with the bread starter,...
