We drove out to eat at the Chef and Farmer so decided to grab lunch here. Sorry to say it was very expensive and the service was not up to par. We had a new waitress and the other servers were totally leaving her to flounder ... NO teamwork at all. Food took forever to arrive, drinks took almost 1/2... More

Relatively new, but already one of the best casual places to eat in Eastern North Carolina. The menu is burgers and oysters with some other goodies for good measure. We had the oyster/burger combo, and the oyster sandwich with fries. They were both fixed to perfection, oysters were just right, not overcooked. Open for lunch on weekends, otherwise in the evening,... More

We were driving from Florida to New Jersey. I remembered watching a show on PBS called The Life of a Chef. On the show I learned about two restaurants in Kinston, NC. The first one was called The Chef and the Farmer. The second, The Boiler Room Oyster Bar. Both are owned and operated by the same husband and wife... More

We were not able to get a reservation at Chef and The Farmer nearby, so this restaurant was recommended instead. Sooooo glad we went. We arrived at 12:30 and the place was packed but had just a short wait. Glad we arrived when we did as the wait quickly lengthened to about 30 mins. It's an oyster bar first and... More

Arrived Sat 5:15PM and the place was almost full. Promptly seated and the server was attentive and took our order. We asked a few questions on the beer selections and we ended up getting what we wanted. No appetizers ordered. Ordered two burgers which aren't huge sandwiches, but thats OK - they are $8 sandwiches. It's not the $15 burger... More

We looked forward to visiting this restaurant...drove 1.5 hrs on a Sunday afternoon for lunch- 3 adults- first entering we immediately noticed extremely loud music...we were seated by a super nice host- ordered Bloody Mary's- which they have 1/2 off on Sundays- we love Bloody Mary's so ordered 2- primarily tasted like vinegar...we did not drink them--later noticed we were... Went to the Boiler Room on Saturday afternoon. They were not busy. Plent of wait staff, four tables there waiting for service. I was passed by three different times, by I will assume my waiter, and he did not look up, or acknowledge me. I continued to wait and contined to watch the wait staff do busy work and ignore... My husband and I recently were traveling through Kinston, North Carolina. We decided to dine at The Boiler Room Restaurant. That Sunday the restaurant opened at noon. We were right on time! At 12:05 pm, we were shown to the last table. Be on time! The restaurant fills up very fast! I estimate that the seating capacity is about sixty... More

We like to stop here for some oysters and drinks before crossing the street for dinner at the Chef and The Farmer. Some day we might actually eat a full meal because the casual menu looks inviting. But we were here for the oysters on the half shell. This night's oyster menu included N.C. Harkers Island and Chadwick Creek as... More
