I arrived here on a Sunday and found that half the town did as well. The wait staff is very friendly and the restaurant is clean with wonderful old photos on the walls taken when the town was first starting. The food was good and everyone with me enjoyed theirs as well. For real down home smoke coming out of... More

The parking lot is in terrible shape. The restaurant had interesting items on the wall. The entrance needed some spiffing up. The lighting was dim. The food was lacking. The bbq was dry, hard, tasteless and looked like porkchop, also tasted like pork chop. The bbq pork chop was hard, & dry. Maybe, they cook the meats at night for... More

I've been twice. The first time I got a BBQ plate and a ribs plate. The BBQ was cooked beautifully, just regular BBQ with the typical NC vinegar taste. Not for me. I prefer smoked pulled pork with red sauce. The ribs that day, a Sunday, tasted like they would have been much better had they been eaten a couple... More

This is a plain jane resturant. Good home made vegs and sides, plenty of choices. The "half pint" meal was an excellent value. 1 meal and 3 sides plus hushpuppies. We thought it would be just a little of the chosen meat and small sides, wrong! If this is the smaller, lighter meal I am not sure we could have... More

Kings has a great barbecue cook, and that is what they are famous for. They have daily plate specials as well as a bountiful buffet. They are always the first to pitch in in the event of a disaster in the community, so that makes us local folks love them all the more.

I lived in Kinston in the 70's so I knew King's well from back then. Have visited whenever I'm passing through and was hungry. We stayed this weekend and visited King's twice. We enjoyed barbeque, ribs, Brunswick stew, hush puppies, veggies, banana pudding and pecan pie. All were very tasty. Only thing less than stellar was the grilled pork chops... More

We found this because of its proximity to the Neuse Sport Shop, and were very glad we did. The Saturday night buffet was like stepping back in time: collard greens, cooked cabbage, fried fatback, chunky potatoes in addition to the barbeque and seafood choices. The barbeque was appropriately smokey with plenty of browned pieces, and the seafood was typical of... More

Good location High Y 70 Kinston N.C. Not as good as it was in the 1970's better than a lot lot lot of other attemps at getting good BBQ now days. I don't think they grow Pigs the same!

Went thru the carry out on way back to Cary. Love the BBQ and seafood. Best BBQ that I've had in a long time. Had the large BBQ "pulled pork" plate. Comes with two sides and hush puppies. A trip back in time...

If you're in the mood for grease the buffet will serve you well. If you're remotely into eating healthy...drive on. I chose not to eat here but did take one bite of my companion's BBQ/pulled pork. Found it to be dry & stringy. Service was less than desirable. In fairness to the restaurant, I will say it is probably a... More
