I have been going to the Outer Banks since 2003 and never knew about this reastaurant what a pleasant surprise. It was in a converted older home set in a wooded area down the road from the Wright Brothers Park. It was not beach themed which was really nice since you are on the beach all day. You definately need... More

My boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary dinner in the Outerbanks. We found the place on Yelp with very good reviews so we decided to give it a shot. Fine Dining in the Outerbanks is hard to come by! We had a reservation, but we still waited a half hour for our table. They were very accommodating during... More

This restaurant is tucked away in Collington Harbor in a converted Victorian house, but is well worth a visit. We had the best meal of our vacation there and wonderful service. My daughter ordered rare tuna and commented that few restaurants get it right, but this one did. The fish was fresh and well prepared, desserts were amazing! Be sure... More

All aspects considered, THE best meal we had during our OBX visit. Great service. Great food. A small criticism, the refurbished house turned restaurant is kind of crowded.

Colington Cafe has mastered hospitality! After getting fed up with 90 minute waits for average bar-type food at other restaurants in KDH, the husband and I stumbled onto this slightly off the beaten path gem. It's truly different from the other area choices…much more our speed! The restaurant was busy winding down and it was getting late. We were obviously... More

The Colington Cafe is always our Saturday evening meal; the last one before we leave the Outer Banks. We intentionally make it our last because it is, without a doubt, the best on the Banks. Six of us all ordered different dishes and none of us were disappointed. Of particular interest to me was a new addition to their menu,... More

Be sure to eat here! I had the Mixed Grille which was a tuna steak with bbq and white bean sauce along with filet mignon topped with chimichurri sauce. Both meats were yummy but I have had better chimichurri sauce. It seemed bland to me. Dish accompanied by mixed veggie of corn, lima bean, zucchini, and tomato. The veggie dish... More

On our last evening vacationing we discovered a description of this cafe tucked in the corner of a local vacation guide and promptly called for reservations. The gentleman answering the phone could not have been nicer. He was able to accommodate a party of four at 8:30pm. It is a bit tricky to find if you do not know the... More

Have made many visits to the Colington Cafe while staying on Colington Island for the week. Nestled amongst the live oak trees just off the road from Kill Devil Hills and the Wright Brothers Memorial to Colington. The building is a converted house with many small dining areas throughout. The service was excellent and the food was, as all of... More

Beautiful 40's house converted to cafe, setting among beautiful old live oak trees. Living spaces converted to cozy dining areas. Personal attention by server who was also an expert on wine choices and full understanding of menu choices. Our compliments brought the owner and chef to our table and she shared recipe! Such real southern charm, almost unheard of in... More
