We had lunch on a Thursday and they were busy. Service was attentive but the kitchen was SLOW. Soft shell crab sandwich was very small portion on a regular hamburger roll. Tasty crab but no effort on the roll. Beef dip sandwich was apoor choice - not too good at all. If you go here stick with the shrimp, oysters... More

Sit at the bar and watch the bartenders steam/shuck and serve up the goodness! Steamed oysters were excellent and so was the shrimp and crab legs. Atmosphere is great and so is the service. Good beer too. Liked the Awful Ale on tap.

Excellent service....The bartender Ricky was entertaining. To get the whole atmosphere sit at the bar..watch Ricky shuck the the oysters. The best oysters you will ever have. The clam chowder is to die for. And the best bloody mary's you will ever have.

Went here for a quick bite after golf. Sat at the bar and the bartender was very friendly and attentive (wish I remembered his name). Among our group we got raw oysters, oysters Arthur (broiled with bacon and other seasonings on top), steamed clams, soft shell crab sandwich, crab cake sandwich, and a crab and shrimp bisque. Everything was delicious.... More

I can't say anything good about this place except the hush puppies were the best thing we ate. Ordered crab dip to start, never came. After our meals were delivered, I had to ask about it and the waitress looked at me like I was crazy. When she finally did bring it, it was awful. It had no taste except... More

We ate dinner at Awful Arthur's twice on our trip, once at a table with a large group, and once with three of us at the bar. Drinks at the upstairs bar while we waited - they were very accomodating. The table service was fantastic, downstairs bar a little slower, but the servers were all wonderfully friendly and cheerful. The... More

My wife and I stopped at Awful Arthur's (AA) during a trip to the Outer Banks. AA is an older looking restaurant, and has an older feel inside (somewhat dark). We were promptly greeted and seated when we entered. My wife and I ordered a soft shell crab sandwich, and was ok, but far less flavorful and enjoyable than others... More

First off, we have been going to Awful Arthurs for 20 years during our vacationing at the Outer Banks. We are a large group and have two tables of 6 side by side. Our waitress was good, but this was the first year that some of us were very disappointed. Those that ordered the crab legs said that they were... More

I was craving oysters and crab legs and this is a main stay in KDH so had to go there. The hostess on 8/14/14 was CRANKY. The downstairs was like a dungeon without windows. So we ate upstairs which had a very limited menu but certainly suited our needs. Our waitress up there was awesome. Bottom line, if want raw... More
