Tried of Taco Bell and Chevy's? Go for the real thing at this restaurant. Well prepared, with fresh ingredients, following traditional Mexican recipes. In addition, there are many vegetarian items available too. They also have a good Kids Menu. Special treats include Coca Cola from Mexico. It is the real thing, with cane sugar. Remember that taste of years ago?... More

Incredible food and great service. After a family outing at the nearby state park, we were hungry and discovered this place. It is REAL food, prepared well, and served with a smile. The BBQ was outstanding -- the flavor was not NC vinegar nor St. Louis sweet, but in-between. Excellent. The meat was tender and juicy. The veggies were good... More

Riverside Restaurant is a bit hard to find but in a quaint and quiet location within walking distance of picturesque downtown Hillsborough. The place is clean though very humble and the staff makes you feel at home right away. Indeed, home cooking is their specialty and Readers' Choice Awards hanging on the wall indicate general praise for their breakfasts and... More

Dorothy is Chef, Cook, and Bottle Washer, in other words she does it all and does it all very well. The food at Riverside is seasoned right, served right, and priced right as well. A little difficult to find hidden at the end of the old bridge in Hillsborough, NC., BUT, once there you're in for REAL home cooking and... More

Outside it's nothing to look at but inside its very clean, the food is awesome & the friendly owners are wonderfully pleasant!Dorothy and her husband make you feel like you've been invited into their home for lunch. It's meat & veggies - mostly done southern style - but those salmon cakes were the best I've ever had! Definitely worth the... More

This funky, little place is hard to find, but worth the effort for the food (at least some of it), for the experience (all of it), and for the folks who run the place. It was wriiten about by Bob Garner for Our State Magazine in November 2007, and repeated in 2009, I think, where he proclaimed the country style... More

There's no seasoning on anything... ever on any food at Riverside. I understand that limiting sodium intake is good for some people, but a dash of salt and pepper go a long way into making food taste good. Since I am a good Southern cook, and my benchmark is pretty high, it takes a lot for me to go to... More

We stopped at Riverside on our way back from vacation after I read about it in "Our State" magazine. To drive by it you'd probably never stop in but it is worth it if you like southern cooking. The place is not much to look at inside or out but the food and hospitality were great. The have a small... More

I've read about this restaurant in various travel publications for several years and finally decided to check it out. First, it's not much to look at from the outside - in fact, it's a bit difficult to find. No big sign, just looks like a commercial building, even one which has seen better times! We went in and it was... More
