Good food, Service a bit off

This is really a 3.5 for me. Our reserved table was not ready, so we sat at the bar for a bit. Took a while to get our drinks, but they were good. My soup and salad were nice, nothing great. The trout was very good. The coconut cake was ok. At times, our server was hanging out at the... read more

This is our "go to" place, as soon as we get to Highlands. Fabulous, fresh soup, every day. Wine with Bo (not sure of spelling, but super bartender). Dinner is always special. One of the best in a town with many fine restaurants.

A very nice restaurant in a shopping square just off Main Street. There is outside and inside seating. If the weather is good, I suggest outside. Why lose an opportunity to enjoy the mountain air? Our dinner was excellent. I had a halibut dish. My wife had the Carolina Mountain Trout. Both were prepared just right. Salads were interesting and... More

Finally..mountain trout in the mountains. And flounder, salmon and spicy beef stir fry. All considered delicious. Good waitstaff, friendly manager and a hand shake w the town mayor. Excellent setting in the old Town Square..the happening place from 6-8 with Friday night bands thru the season. Kilwins with fudge, ice cream nearby too. Reservations a must Friday if you want... My husband and I just spent a wonderful week in Highlands. We had both lunch and dinner at Wild Thyme and both meals were very good with excellent service. The shrimp poor boy sandwich and crab cake salad were both delicious. Crab stuffed puff pastry "purses" appetizer was perfect. Dinner entrees were also very good (swordfish and chicken). We loved... For those dining in the Highlands, an elegant dining choice is Madison's at the Old Edwards Inn. The food is presented beautifully and the service is great. However, for those in the know, Wild Thyme is TWICE as good! Ok so I'm gonna sound like a promoter for them but, I'm just a guy who took his wife there for... More

Loved our Mother's Day dinner here! I had the eggplant appetizer with mozzarella cheese and balsamic. It was very tasty. Then I had the Carolina Mountain Trout that was deliciously prepared. The polenta was the best I ever tasted. The lemon coconut cake was to die for! The portions were great and the prices were good. The staff was wonderful.... More

My sister had a fantastic mushroom soup a year before so Wild Thyme, when suggested for lunch, was readily agreed. We were nicely greeted, seated, made to feel welcome, order taken, all was well. We were happy with the later lunch hours til 400pm. Both ordered asparagus soup. The asparagus soup was pureed, and asparagus was no longer in full... More

My husband and I ate dinner one night on our weekend in highlands. Every single dish we ate was amazing! The crab purses were incredible. The filet was perfect and the coconut cake is a must have! My husband got the waterfall beef and loved it! We loved dinner so much that we returned for lunch the next day!

It's been a while since I've visited Wild Thyme. Their reputation is a solid enjoyable meal. Unfortunately I didn't have that experience. I ordered the hamburger. (Fyi - as a side they offer sweet potato chips or rice. No fries. If you have a burger on your menu, please offer fries.) The burger arrived cooked beyond the temperature I requested.... More
