We have often eaten here at the Highlands Smokehouse and always used to enjoy our meals here. I don't know what happened, but recently when we were here we were so disappointed. I had the chicken, and it was so dry, parts that I thought were bone were actually extremely dry chicken. The ribs were also very dried out. The... More

I've had several takeout meals from this place that were excellent, but on 08/31/14 I attended with my wife and daughter at the establishment. They were not busy but after placing my order I was told they were out of ice tea so I selected something else to drink. When our meals arrived ( 3 pulled pork sandwiches, I was... More

We visited the Highlands Smokehouse on Friday August 22nd hoping for a great meal, ordered the Fried Pickles and they were good but think they would probably feed eight people. I had the pulled pork plate with collard greens and BBQ beans, the pork was very dry and the beans were even dryer! Collards were good, wife had Catfish that... More

While spending the week in Highlands, we heard from a few people in town that the Smokehouse was a good spot for dinner. We went on a Thursday for dinner. The place was not too crowded. The server, was very nice, but slow, despite the crowd conditions. There are a couple large screen televisions in the restaurant, giving it almost... More

Highlands Smokehouse is a easy drop in spot for a drink and bar type food. Smokehouse was the first laid back spot in Highlands in what can be a overly pretentious dining center. The catfish was good and gin and tonic needed some work. I just like it because there is no need to dress up and sometimes in Highlands... More

We stopped by for a late lunch and were seated fairly quick, then it went downhill. There were only 2 staff on for taking and delivering orders. Drinks weren't delivered in a timely manner. Multiple times we were told about how they were short staffed. Not my problem if they can't plan accordingly. Service was inadequate at best. Food when... More

Literally. I had a veggie plate and the "hot" veggies were barely warm. Cornbread was cold and tasteless, even in the collard greens' ( canned and stem-y) pot likker. My honey had the 'que and said it was good, but he had had better. They were out of the first two beers he ordered. Server seemed "out of it". We... More

These dogs can hunt! Great bar-b-que and service! Chicken falls off the bone, pulled pork is delicious and who knew I would like FRITO PIE? Been here twice and will keep coming!

Have a cold beer order the fried pickles and a rack of dry rub ribs and you will be happy. Stay away from pulled pork. I tried some pulled chicken and bbq sauces on friends platter. Both were ok. Very nice server and atmosphere.
