Best BBQ in Highlands

Outstanding BBQ, good waitstaff. Looks like a friendly bar (we don't drink). Parking is bad as the place is built into a hill (hey it's the mountains) and the walk up to the restaurant is step. Drop you guests off before parking. Large menu.

The smokehouse was dirty and served bad food but it's gone. Very soon, or so I've heard, a new BBQ joint will be in place and the only thing that is the same is the building! What I've heard is great food choices with meat from a good source and owners who actually care about all aspects of their establishment.... More

The restaurant is for sale and is not open at the current time. Our meals there in the past were fine.

don't be fooled by the charming setting while so much appears to have been invested into the looks and decor the owners should have invested in customer service, time management and food preparation this is by far the worst place I've ever eaten we arrived with a party of 8 waited 15 minutes and than i got up and got... If you drive right by this place consider yourself fortunate. It recently changed ownership. We really enjoyed the old Smokehouse with great meats, sides, local brews and attentive service. Whoever bought it will be looking for new employment soon. Drove by on a Friday night to an empty parking lot and thought it was closed. Returned to an empty lot... More

I've been eating at the Highlands Smokehouse about every other month past four years. This was my first visit this year though. I had heard of the change of ownership. I did not know the past management, nor do I know the present folks...I just go to eat. I almost always get the same thing: simple man's pulled pork sandwich,... More

We live in Highlands seasonally and have been coming here since this restaurant has opened. We were and are thrilled that we have a real BBQ restaurant again. I really like and depend on TA and "real reviews". I wasn't aware of the management change and have had lunch and dinner here in the past week or so, and the... More

Used to love this place and have reviewed it before! Bragged about it and took friends today for lunch. Waitress told us "we are out of pulled pork, brisket, and hamburgers". Really? A Bar b Que restaurant? They "got a late start" on cooking. Had pulled chicken and it came out cold but not the ice cold of the hard... More

I'm a pretty laid back guy, but I had to talk to the manager about this experience. This food was awful. I had the pulled chicken, and my wife the pulled pork. Both meats were the driest I have ever tasted. The sides had no flavor. I was told by the waitress (she was a sweet, pleasant young lady) they... More

Have gone by there several times and it always smelled good so we decided to give it a try without .knowing anything about the place. Much to our surprise the appetizer was good except they over cooked the smoked wings. We both had beef brisket for 14.50. The baked beans tasted like right out of the can with no seasoning.... More
