We were greeted right away, seated, and the server took our drink order quickly. We had the fried pickle appetizer and it was very good and a very large serving. We each ordered the 2 meat/2 vegetable plates. My wide got pork and chicken and I got pork and turkey. The meat was well smoked, still juicy. The person pulling the... More

My family has eaten at the Highlands Smokehouse at least two dozen times. We frequent this restaurant frankly because we love barbeque and it is convenient. There are no other options in Highlands for barbeque. The food is slightly above average and the atmosphere is nice. There is often a long wait to be seated, even with many open tables,... More

Some good twists to ordinary bbq. Normally very consistent. This day food was a little behind the great service James always offers.. It is always nice to have someone remember your name.

We stopped for dinner and weren't disappointed. The BBQ - we tried chicken and pork - was very good. Try the chicken nachos. Yum! The serving sizes were generous enough but we still cleared our plates. Prices were very reasonable. My husband didn't love his uninspired catfish - he recommends sticking to their BBQs which he sampled on everyone else's... More

Nice place, good food, and the drive or ride to get there is second to none. Coming up from Franklin NC to Highlands, the views and waterfalls are the best. Top it off with a stop at this place for some BBQ, and it is a winner. Big parking lot behind the restaurant, you just can't see it as you... More

Hungry and tired, I just wanted something to eat without any fuss. What I got was pulled pork sliders, brunswick stew with cornbread, coleslaw, and sweet tea. I was in heaven. The food was excellent. The service was timely and friendly and knowledgable. I will be going back on my next trip to Highlands.

To start with, we came here on a motorcycle trip and stopped because some of our group had eaten here before. We had excellent food. The Heart attack is an unusually good dish as well as the Pigwich....I had pulled pork and brisket and they were the best of my travels. Sauces are all GREAT!!!!.. All four of Us enjoyed... More

Went to the Smokehouse today specifically for their special on Chicken Wings (Tuesdays 50 a piece). They prepare them different from other restaurants. The wings are smoked which seems to remove some of the fat in the skin. Then upon order, they are deep fried and served any way you want for the sauce. We had ours on the side.... More

I was craving ribs, and I got to taste some really good ones. Aside from that....dried out corn pudding, very tough collards and the strangest cornbread I have ever eaten and I am a dyed in the wool Southern lady, several decades old, and would not call that cornbread. Our server was running around like a chicken with her head... More

When you walk in your greeted with a friendly face, the atmosphere is warm and the smells just wonderful. I eat here whenever I am in Western North Carolina, which is often. Never had a bad meal or bad service. The portions are plentiful and the selections are many. I had the chopped beef brisket sandwich as did my son.... More
