The place in town to go for a delicious quick lunch or to get picnic food or if you are lucky enough to live in HIghlands to get something prepared for dinner. A marvelous wine selection and a knowledgeable wine buyer!

While called a grocery store, because it originally was, Mountain Fresh has now morphed into a deli counter, full meal line and pizza & pasta to go or eat in. Locals know to call ahead for take out meal of the day; to get there early to beat the church crowd on Sunday and to go early to put in... More

The food was good, there were plenty of choices, and either call ahead to order or don't go during mealtime rush hours.

We did the take-out dinner twice. You get enough food for dinner for two plus at least a lunch with the leftovers. We had the BBQ with sides one night for about $25 for two and the prime ribs with salad and baked potatoes for about $33 for two. Both were quite tasty. We definitely will be returning. We ate breakfast or lunch here everyday for our five day visit. Everything is cooked fresh right in front of you. Great eggs, french toast for breakfast. Huge delicious hamburgers and fries or wonderful big salads for lunch. Expect to wait in line 10-15 minutes to order as this place is very popular -- worth the wait.

We always make sure we stop at the Mountain fresh for a meal when visiting the area. You know it is good when so many locals eat here. Try the chicken tenders. We split the chicken tenders salad. don't forget to buy some local honey to take home!

Asked how long line would take when we first came in, they said about 10 min. Thirty minutes later, I pick up the hamburger that is large in size but quite dry. French fries hand cut and prepared well. More if a marketplace with beers on tap and unique grocery items available. Nice selection of olive oils to choose from.

This place is the big hit in Highlands. A hit for groceries, wine, and the deli. The deli offers breakfast, lunch and dinner and for the locals, they buy complete take out dinners. This is a sit outside (under the screened in porch) on a picnic table type of place, but the food is upscale in every way. Try it... More

The oil and vinegar selection is superb! Had take out breakfast there this morning and the bisquits and gravy are excellent. Saw a customer eating French Toast and it looked at least an inch and a half thick! Can't wait to try the pizza.

Pros- Food was really tasty and cooked fresh on the spot. The seating areas are very casual, but nice. Advice- It got a bit crowded during peak times so there was usually a wait when we were there and if you want to order one of the dinners you must call ahead of time!
