Ruka's Table embodies the spirit of Highlands with a casual but elegant atmosphere, excellent food and service, and a commitment to quality that we believe is unequaled. We buy as much local produce as possible to sustain our farming communities. Ruka's menu is an array of specials, salads, soups, appetizers, entrees, and desserts that are 100% house made from the finest quality ingredients that we can purchase. Our steaks are local, dry aged, hormone free meats of the highest grade. Our menu has a variety of seafood and poultry dishes and includes daily specials and our take on southern specialties. Ruka's features a beautiful, copper topped, full service bar that offers full menu dining and a huge assortment of craft beer, specialty cocktails, and a fantastic wine list. The bar is flanked by a large stone fireplace, and is situated under a 30 foot, beamed, cathedral ceiling.

Warm venue on a very cold night

The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was tasty and the desserts were huge! We had a great table in front of the fire. The waitresses were really helpful and great to chat too.

I checked out the reviews and menu before coming to Ruka's and was looking forward to having an anniversary meal here while in Highlands for a few days. We were offered a high top table near the fireplace, and it was a nice atmosphere. Wines by the glass are not stored in a cooled facility rather just sitting corked out... More

A real find in this small mountain town filled with good restaurants. Contemporary surroundings, easy parking and food out of this world. Justin Burdett creates a very special menu crafted with local goodies and with southern charm. A very personable place, good service, fine wine list and the best fried oysters east of New Orleans. Highly recommended!

So many good places to eat in Highlands- this one was walking distance for us from our hotel and was quite good. The chef uses local and farm to table items-worth trying...

We've avoided Ruka's since they opened several years ago. But when friends invited us to go to dinner with them, we said sure. I thought the menu was limited compared to other high end Highlands restaurants, but I saw a couple of entrees that appealed to me. I ordered the smoked trout served with grits and so did my wife.... We slid into this Ruka's after driving all day to get to Highlands. We got a late table (8:30 is considered "late" because they close at 9:00) through OpenTable, and ended up with a lovely table by the fireplace. That immediately set us at ease. The only ding for the restaurant is that our server took more than 5 minutes... More

I completely agree with others—Ruka’s Table is THE best restaurant in Highlands, NC!! Justin Burdett is a chef extraordinaire, crafting masterpieces from simple, local ingredients like foraged lobster mushrooms, house made bratwurst and sauerkraut. I love sweet potatoes, but would never have considered stacking sweet potato slices with incredible blue cheese. My favorite appetizer, still, is the pork belly with... More

A very relaxing bar and the dining room was also relaxing. The food is very good but expensive. It does not open until late in the afternoon - a dinner place only. It's on Main Street but on the end of Highlands.

Recently, we had lunch at Ruka's and figure once it is discovered will be mobbed because the food is so darn fresh and good. You gotta have the peach/tomato/basil salad dressed with pepper infused oil. And then follow it up with their incredible hamburger. Divine.

Everything about Ruka’s Table was perfect! We stumble at the restaurant while looking for a place to eat, which should tell you that exterior has coughed our attention. Starting with the friendly, knowledgeable staff, very pleasant atmosphere, and finishing with the very happy belly! I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this restaurant. The food was superb, every dish... More
