I'm a picky Mexican food eater. We're from the land of tex-mex, and can easily find delicious food within a mile of our home. That being said, El Azteca was pretty good. We went twice during our trip to the mountains. The fajitas were so-so, but the shrimp enchiladas were divine! Not too drowned in cheese, and had excellent flavor.... More

I was happy to find a Mexican place in Highlands. I went with several family members (Texans and Californians). Service was friendly. Food was ok considering the location. They charge extra for Wi-Fi so if you were planning on using it with your smart phone it will cost and they add it to your bill. . At first I thought... More

Friendly staff; delicious food -- fresh! Local vegetables used as much as possible. No cans! Salsa is the BEST I have ever tasted (and I'm from Texas).

Had lunch here several times while on our week long vacation in Highlands. The food was great and the drinks from the bar were also very good. We ate on the outdoor patio which was dog friendly! The service was excellent. Will definitely be back again.

Was on a group motorcycle ride when we found El Azteca in HIghlands on the way to the Bridal Veil Falls. Being from Texas, I was unsure of what we would find there but was very surprised. Fast service, good chip dip and excellent food. I had the chile rellenos and they were incredible, some of the best I've ever... More

We went to this restaurant tonight. I found it to be very good. Ken was a very good server and was attentive to our need. I really like Mexican food and this restaurant rank very high on my list. Prices were reasonable and the food very good. I recommend the restaurant to all.

Dined here per recommendation of inn keepers and enjoyed it very much. Prices are great and portions are most generous. Consider sharing. Sat in the back near the bar and believe it or not, more quiet. A wonderful Mexican choice. Chips and s,as are relish too!!!!!!

This place is muy fantastico!!! Great food at a mid-level price point. The portions are generous and quite affordable. Ivan was our waiter and he was quick, efficient and professional. I ordered the burrito and it was massive and dee-lish. Hint: if you like spice, they have an incredible green sauce that is available on request, it heats the side... More

Friends recommended this restaurant, and they were not mistaken. The chicken poblano rellenos were the best I have experienced. Their hot dipping sauce - cream based with jalapeños - was excellent. Too much Tex-Mex on the menu, but both our dinners were truly Mexican and very tasty.

Arrived in Highlands on Wednesday. Vacationing here for kids fall break. Great interesting, spicy food. Loved the soup. Cannot spell it but it was not the chicken tortilla that I had. Decent white wine selection. Large group next to us had couple of bottles of red. Several TVs but volume was not turned up. Our waiter was good but do... More
