A Secret Place Where the Locals Go...

Located off a side street in downtown Highlands, the small venue has a lovely intimate atmosphere. The menu has something of interest for everyone and the service is exceptional. Definitely make this a part of your dining choices.

We had eaten at Lakeside a number of times but not since it had changed ownership. My husband and I had a delicious dinner tonight that ensures we will be back. I had the Slow Rendered Duck Breast with Yukon Gold & pumpkin ragu, roasted pears, port reduction sauce. My husband started with the Grilled Pear Salad followed by Seafood... More

Our waiter Jeremy was very good! The atmosphere was wonderful. Starting with salads- goat cheese/squash and the wedge salad- they were delicious!! The entrees came and that's when the disappointment came. Crab cakes had tons of stuffing and hardly any crab meat. Dill sauce was good. Risotto was good and creamy but the shrimp and mussels were cold. Everyone in... More

Always wonderful seafood. Oysters, grouper a la maison, grouper prepared with fall vegetables, scallops were among our choices. Wonderul fall salad and fall wedge. Excellent and efficient service. This is a very small venue so reservations are a must. A nice wine list but you can bring your own for a corkage fee. This is a regular place for us... More

Our hostess was warm and very welcoming. She showed us to a couple of vacant tables and offered us our choice of where to be seated. Our server, Josh, was terrific from his introduction to the end of the meal. My wife had the filet - excellent. I had the trout (not stuffed) - excellent. Drinks were a good size,... More

We had dinner last night and I ordered the stuffed trout and my husband ordered the "signature" crab cakes. My order of stuffed trout was great. My husbands crab cakes were the exact same stuffing I had in my trout......same texture and flavor. For a place to say they have a signature crab cake and serve the stuffing for a... More

We had houseguests that we brought to Lakeside for dinner. As usual the food was delicious and the service was superb! I had the stuffed trout. My wife had the baked trout. One of our guests had the vegetarian special and the other had the salmon. Everyone raved about their meal.

I recently dined at Lakeside and had a wonderful time. The atmosphere was perfect. Not too loud and perfect for our party of five. Their tomato florentine soup was delicious. The grouper Maison was to die for! To end our perfect meal we shared the best bread pudding I've ever had. Keep up the good work Laura!

What a lovely and charming spot. Great menu, nice selection of seafood. Mixology possibilities, while modest are excellent in terms of quality, variety and the size of pour. Staff is knowledgeable, fun and well informed
