Making a Splash

Wonderful wine list; impeccable service; relaxed but classy atmosphere. Food, particularly salad, was outstanding. Likewise, a great martini. Fish dish was a bi "fishy," yet remainder of the dishes were excellent. Won't have fish next visit, but will return.

Even the cover of the menu is the same. They have opened up some space inside with the nice outdor patio. But the food was never that great here and it is no better with new whatever. Special of the day was flounder and everything came on instant polenta- flounder was so overcooked it was tasteless. Pleasant place with nice... More

My wife an I selected this restaurant from the AAA book. We were very pleased with our meals and the wine list. We had an excellent Penner-Ash Pinot Noir that went very well with our meal. The service was great and the dessert was on the restaurant as it was our anniversary.

We visited Lakeside last week to a welcoming staff and a diverse menu. They always have wonderful seafood options but this time we went with the duck and steak entrees, both were perfectly cooked and seasoned. I'm excited to see such craftsmanship in the handmade cocktails and the garden dining is absolutely beautiful.

When we visit Highlands, we always reserve Lakeside for our first night in town. But this was our first visit under the new ownership so we were hoping the experience would be as pleasant as previous visits. We shouldn't have worried. Same excellent food and service. And they always offer a nice selection of wines to pair with their entrees.... More

Wildlife abounds during the summer on the lake this restaurant overlooks. Therefore, if it is a nice day and you are there for brunch ask for an outside table. Inside is cute but crowded with tables and at peak times conversation is difficult. The brunch menu was varied and their manifestations of Eggs Benedict were perfectly prepared and reasonably priced.... More

Don't let the outside fool you...the interior is sophisticated and lovely. The service is excellent with a capital E and so is the food. The drink special was a Peach-Watermelon vodka martini...excellent. The sauteed scallops were perfect and the accompanied corn pudding was amazing. Flounder special was wonderful and the pureed potatoes were melt-in-your-mouth amazing. Chocolate torte for dessert was... More

Lakeside is an old favorite with new owners. The food was great, the menu complete enough to satisfy any size appetite, any type of entrée prefer i.e. steaks, seafood, salads, and specials. The best part of our evening was the service. The dining room is small and it was full but the servers were outstanding. The meal was prepared just... More

My husband and I chose this restaurant after reading reviews on TripAdvisor. We called a day ahead and made a reservation. The restaurant was absolutely full! We waited a few minutes before being seated and chatted with the friendly hostess. This restaurant has the feel of an old house and seemed to be full of locals. It was a rainy... More

First visit to Lakeside Restaurant in Highlands over the weekend. Neither of us is much of a fish eater, but we absolutely loved the Alaskan Halibut dish we each had Friday night. Restaurant was full of locals/regulars (many patrons greeted each other as friends). I think we were the only ones the owner didn't stop and say "Hello" to. Our... More
